Update 6-30-12: Car just performed flawlessly on a 250 mile trip. Smooth, quiet, and comfortable. A/C was great! Earning about 29 mpg around town and just got 37 mpg on the highway!!

Update 6-29-12: Last night, installed a low mileage OEM a/c compressor, hose, and expansion valve. Replaced all o-rings with new. Charged the system today and the temp got down to 42*F which is excellent on a day like today (98* and extreme humidity).


Update 6-18-12: Changed the oil again tonight (less than 700 miles on the last change) with an OEM Mann filter and Shell Rotella 15w-40 diesel oil. I use this oil because of its very high ZDDP content.

Also topped off the trans oil.

Title - Clean PA title in my name
Inspection - Just passed w/ flying colors in May, dyno emissions test included. Good to 5/13
VIN: WVWxxxxx so it is a German built car

Background:
Bought the car from an older local fellow who had owned the car since ~2002. His daughter used the car for two years in college and then moved to France when she graduated. Neither he nor his wife needed the car and they parked it alongside their driveway. It sat there for the last 8 years, hardly touched. I looked it over and knew it was a prime candidate for "restoration". I bought the car in early March and I've spent the last 3 months disassembling and refinishing/rebuilding/replacing every part and system on the car.

Pros:
-probably about the cleanest and most original '91 Jetta GL you're going to find!!! Can't emphasize that enough
-99.9% rust free (battery tray has light surface rust and and some light bubbling under one flare)
-car has NEVER been in an accident, the body is STRAIGHT!
-relatively low mileage for the year
-2.0 ABA block swap, great low end torque compared to the original 1.8 liter
-has been dead reliable for me
-fresh inspection
-lots of new parts
-nice color and paint is in pretty decent condition for its age
-working a/c converted to R134a
-everything works!!
-German built car
-SO CLEAN and ORIGINAL!

Cons: (all pretty minor issues)
-a few dents/dings around the car (most pictured). college age female driver
-clock illumination bulb not working (I replaced the bulb with a good one, didn't help)
-dash is cracked
-wiper motor is either tired or just grumpy from disuse (a little slow and slightly noisy)
-rear bumper frame is somewhat bent (the bumper cover is just fine, however)
-brake proportioning valve is frozen and should be replaced (I have a good OEM one to include)
-e brake not functioning
-headliner stapled in the rear, but does not sag
-no headunit nor rear speakers, but that might change if I keep driving it

I could go on and on here, but again, I pulled just about every single corner of this car apart and cleaned, painted, and refinished it. I had the complete interior apart, carpet included. All four door cards were off and they were cleaned individually, front AND back. Even the doors behind the door cards I cleaned, which should give you an idea of my level of OCD.

The entire front end of the car was apart down to the bare longblock, I'll try to include a picture. I also removed everything from the body of the car (all plastics, bumpers, handles, lights) and performed a complete job of claybaring, polishing (2 stages), and waxing the car using a Griot's random orbital polisher. All the black plastic trim was refinished.

I have a pretty large stockpile of MK2 parts and any interior, exterior, or engine bay odds and ends that were missing, I replaced. And I mean even little things, the kind of stuff most people don't know existed on a Mk2.

I would very much like this car to go a person who will fully appreciate it as a sort of survivor and care for it accordingly. It isn't mint, don't get me wrong, but I'd hate to see it abused, slammed on Racelands, rolling on 165/45s, sporting a flat black hood, and a checkered headliner. And covered in ridiculous stickers. The car would make excellent daily. Actually, considering how rust free the shell is, it would make a great starting point for a project, but I feel the car is too complete to rip apart and turn into something else.

Anyway, I'm starting the price at $4000 OBO. I'm slightly negotiable but at the same time, I'm willing to be patient. I want the money for other projects (E30 Ground Controls and 16v TWM ITBs ), but having just put a TON of time and decent money into this thing, I won't mind driving and enjoying her for a bit! This car is very civil compared to my other cars, haha.

For some extra cash, the buyer will have the option of purchasing a Bilstein Sport/Jamex suspension, a Bilstein Sport/Neuspeed Sport suspension, or a even a set of FK Silverline Plus X coilovers (only if you promise not to drop it like a nutcase ) Also, I do have a perfect set of front door speaker grilles to throw in for my asking price; they're kind of precious anymore so I didn't put them on the car initially.
