Audi Advance Key problem after battery replacement.

My dad's remote key stopped working a while ago due to the battery dying. Seemed like a simple fix, replaced the battery and still no luck. The light blinks on the remote but still does not lock or unlock the doors. I thought for sure that you had to reprogram the key after replacing the battery, but after doing some reading this isnt the case. It should work normally.

Any suggestions ? Thanks.
