Like I said if it wasnt registered it is new regardless of miles.
If it had 160 miles I doubt the paperwork made it to the DMV.
It was a G60 Corrado. total POS. This was in the 90s when VWs were well... POS.
I worked for a DC area dealership.

Unfortunately that is how some dealers operate.

It is frustrating working in a store that does not do that stuff when dealers around you are and they sell tonnes more cars because of it because people believe the lies.

We would have told you up front what the rate was and then you would have gone back to the place offering 0.9 because they would have told you you were approved for it then would do what they did (get you back in to resign once you are already driving it).

It is very bad practice and gives all dealers a bad name.

We are not all like that!

If they sold it to you as "Used" wouldn't it fall under "Pre-Certified", which would entitle you to an additional 2 years Warranty on top of the balance of the remaining Warranty. Basically 5yrs bumper to bumper. One dealer initially tried to sell me a Demo and that would have been the deal with the warranty.

    thats not a bad idea.
OP in terms of miles *(yes i had 7 on mine when took delivery) but 160 is not much.
if dealer knew and tried to slide one past you, then they should be held responsible.

extra warranty would be great, $600 in those monthly 10$ charges, plus 2% difference on the interest back to you would be great. and maybe some free goodies *(mats, roofracks) for your trouble hope VWoA does all this to make it right and keep you happy in terms of dealer lying to you.
as far as the car and millage goes, 160 on a traded car doesnt seem too bad, just never go back to that dealer and give them a bad review or something.

While you may have legal recourse since the dealer misrepresented the vehicle, in the future never sign any paperwork until after the test drive. Make sure you check the odometer. I bought my 2012 GTI 17 days ago. I checked the odometer (11 miles) and the VIN. I knew VW was into the 300,000's in the factory production of GTI's and sure enough, the VIN was in the 300,000's. Never take anything for granted with these jokers and make sure you bring your A Game to the dealership.
For the most part it doesn't really mean much, but I would file a complaint with the BBB in your state. Some dealers really hate that. I hope you find a good attorney to nail those bastards for misrepresenting a used car as new. They don't deserve any sympathy. I truly hope you nail them!

I mostly want to know what VWoA says, but some of this is on you for not smelling something rotten and resigning the contract.

I did smell something fishy and inquired about it, only to be told that it was used because I drove it. I found out it was an unwind as I was packing my stuff to leave and I saw a note on my file as the finance lady was putting it away. That is when I was told the truth? Who knows anymore, we shall see.

VWoA is on standby, ready to take it to upper management if I give them the okay. Giving the dealer a chance to make it right.

I didn't like my dealer and they knew it. I was chomping at the bit for that survey and they never sent it.

My dealer told me to contact them to resolve any problems I may have had with them before I gave them bad marks on the survey, kind of defeats the purpose of the survey...

OP, best of luck with everything!

They honestly do do that because the dealership will tie your pay to your surveys which sounds fair, but speaking from experience, if you don't emphasize the importance of it to your customers, no matter how well you do your job, you will lose A LOT of money. Best way to approach it in the future is if you like your salesperson, do whatever you can to give him a perfect survey.

What is "making it right"? You might want to have a firm idea of what you want from them before you go any farther.

If you can get some compensation that's cool, but if you can go over the car in the sunlight and don't find any imperfections, and you can drive it on different types of roads and it drives great....then in the end it is a sweet new car and you shouldn't let little details ruin your enjoyment.

We actually received a message from VWoA about coaching customer's on "10's" and it is EXTREMELY frowned upon by VW. So if and when it becomes time to screw the dealer over let VW know they coached you and they will get pimp-slapped by VW.

This is a shame, if it was me I would demand they take the car back and sell you an actual "new" one with 0.9%. If they won't do that make them "unwind" your deal and buy one from somewhere else.

If it's just being sold "used" this isn't the case. The vehicle has to go through the CPO inspection process that the dealer has to pay for and then they tack that on to the purchase price.

Holy crap, I cannot agree more.

A couple of my friends have had bad experiences at that dealership's service department. I have talked to some of the sales people there and man are they a bunch of sleaze bags.

OP, sorry about what happened to you, best of luck.

As soon as I saw USED anywhere I would have handed them the keys and left. Went to another dealer and purchased a different one. Sounds shady to me, I would have never left with that vehicle.

The car can also be a returned lemon. You should have never went back to the dealer so many times. Once they made you go there to supposedly pick up the car and the car was not there, that was the point you should have walked away. How much did you pay for the car?

It's not the $10 a month that concerns me, its the fact that I was deceived. I would have gladly paid the higher interest if I hadn't found out that it was used. I would want to negotiate the sale price as a used vehicle.
If it was registered with the DMV, you would've signed a title that had been assigned to someone else. If you signed the MSO, then it was a new car...but may have been punched to VW as a sale already. In VW's mind, once a car is punched as a sale(i.e. no longer new), then it is not subject to new car programs(i.e. 0.9% APR)......

Sorry I have been so busy with work ht I haven't had time to figure this out. Spoke with the DMV a couple times and Vwoa as well as an attorney to get some advice. I will speak with vowa tomorrow and figure out what is going on with that dealer and update. Thanks for the concern

My dealer repeatedly and forcefully INSISTED that I give him perfect 10's, he was very open about it, he actually said, Listen you HAVE TO give us perfect 10's.

I said, sure I'll get right on that

It is annoying as hell. Even service is like give us perfect 10's! How about no?

If you think your service writer is a decent honest person, you should give him/her a perfect survey. Dealer owners tie those things to your pay plan. Even one bad survey can hurt you badly come payday.
