I'll be at the game tonight, too...left field lower box (sect 76, three rows back from field...perfect home run ball territory)

I have to say after yesterday's loss in the second game, and even some of their recent wins, I'm starting to see some things that make me nervous. First are some cracks in their pitching. Wei-Yin has had gotten into serious trouble in his last four or five starts. Not sure if the hitters have just figured him out or he is just more nervous on the mound and being tentative with his pitches...but he really seems to have lost his mojo out there as of late. Same goes for Pedro Strop out of the pen - gets himself into trouble in almost every appearance now. I think Wei-Yin needs a longer rest, and maybe give Brian Matusz a chance to start a game or two.

Next up is the hitting. I know we are still getting some good individual performances at the plate (e.g. Jonesy's 4 for 4 in the 1st game yesterday) but the O's have been pitiful with RISP lately, especially with bases loaded. In the nightcap they had bases loaded three times and could only muster a single run? This has happened in more than a few games recently, and they need to figure it out.

Hopefully they can do some good things in their remaining games - I know this team has it in them!

    Let's go O's!!!!

^i completely agree. After the first inning i am yelling at the TV to get Chen out of the game. Strop has been bad. I have seen some good and then in the Red Sox game he gives up back to back doubles. Then last nights game had me pulling my hair out. Now 1.5 games out and a day off on thursday. I am getting a little worried. MASN put up a stat about the sacrifice fly ball and there is only 29 all year. I think my softball team had that many in 24 games. Live and die by the homerun, but still need to play small ball. Bases loaded needs to get at least 1 run each time.

Excited for tonight. I hope my son does well, i want to stay for the entire game. BrianC i am in left field lower box section 82 row 7 middle seats so we dont have to be up and down, up and down.

That was Sh!t last night. The O's could not hit. It seemed like only 5 balls reached the outfield. This has me worried, this is not a good time of year to go into a funk.

The major difference i see is that there is no quit with the fans. Mostly everyone was still there and cheering.

Oh well, at least the yankees lost also.

Yep that game sucked donkey balls. Worrisome to be sure. O's haven't been blanked in 49 games, and to have it happen against a 85-86mph fastballer like Laffey is just ridiculous.

Saunders wasn't great last night, either - could never get ahead in the count. Even Bundy worked himself into a bit of a jam, but at least he got out of it unharmed.

I can't tell if the O's are just getting tired, nervous, or both. But both their starting pitching AND their offense is hurting right now - it would be bad if just one of those was slumping...but both at the same time does not bode well.

I agree about the fans - in it until the end. The guy mocking the guy trying to start a wave was pretty funny though!

WHEW!!! WHAT A NIGHT!! Now THAT'S what we needed!! Miggy comes through with a great start, defense was solid, and the offense steps up BIG TIME.

Great game all around. Now I'd like to see some of this offensive momentum carry into their remaining games.

    Way to go O's!

    YESSSS!!!!!!!

I gotta admit - I was nervous about the decision to start Saunders, but wow, did he come through big time! Add in some timely hitting and we get a convincing win without a single long ball.

The Yard is gonna be ROCKIN' tomorrow night!

    Let's go O's!!!!

    Last night was so amazing...

97' I was 16 didn't know what it meant, felt like or anything...expected it.

I was at a bar in Annapolis, that was filled with orange, people chanting, clapping, screaming...all for a team that has over-achieved all year. It was a great feeling.

    WOW.

Now on the Yankees...who I am not scared of one bit.

I was OK with Saunders last night. Not as nervous as others. But when the 7th inning rolled around until the end i was nervous. Super excited for tomorrow. Got tickets when they went on sale.

Just like imagine29028, i was 16 in '97 and i was at a playoff game then, but i didnt get the grasp of the awesomeness. I just think i did not care as much.

It's been a long time coming...I was 14 in '97 and like everyone else, I have been waiting a long time (I'm a Dolphins fan too, so I haven't had much to be excited about in a long time). It took my wife a while to grasp how "important" this is for me and other Orioles fans.

Enjoy the game tonight! Reluctantly, I sold my tickets for tonight and opted to just go tomorrow instead of both games.

I was in attendance at one of the WS games when they won in '83 (at age 17) and thought...with this lineup we'll be back plenty more times!

Anyways, great game and now the O's need 2 of 3 in the Bronx. Very doable!

I was at the game last night and let me tell you, the place was insane! First post season game I have ever attended, and despite the cold and initially wet conditions, it was an amazing experience, made all the more special by an O's win. My ears are still ringing.

Can't wait till they take the field in the Bronx!

    LET'S GO O'S!!

    First off, are you 12?

Second, we weren't chanting 'Derek sucks', we were chanting 'Yankees suck'...and when A-Rod was at the plate, it was "Sterrrrroids, Sterrrrrroids"

Ok, here goes. I disagree with you regarding Ripken. He's not jealous of Jeter.
    There...you have no point.

Jeter is a great SS, Ripken was a great SS. The only significant difference between the 2 is the number of rings, something a single player cannot control. Otherwise, Ripken has zero reason to be jealous of any player, much less any player at his position.

And FWIW...saying you didn't mean a few of us, just the whole O's fanbase doesn't exactly help you in terms of PR.

He did that in the Red Sox thread for years though there was no point in trolling there this year given the current state of Red Sox suckdom. It's the behavior I've come to expect from Yankees fans.

From one generalization to another [O's fans are blah blah blah to Yankee fans are blah blah blah]

I think we should stop pretending that Sox fans are different then Yankee fans are different from any other fans. Some are good some are bad.

Using football as an example "I cant believe those Chiefs fans cheered when Cassel got hurt"

If someone cant believe that they have never watched sports ever. Thats not a Chiefs thing. That crap has probably happened at one of your favorite teams field at some point in their history.

Also wouldnt this be the best time for those kinds of fans to go into the Sox thread to troll? Kick them when they are down kinda thing?

    At any rate.

Gonzalez and Kuroda have been pretty dominate the few times each has faced the other team.

Hoping being a veteran gives Kuroda a slight edge.

But it should be a close one
