hopefully going to try and get away with not starting a new thread....
Couple picture requests.
1 back of footwell light housing.
2 either wiring diagram for footwell light harness or a picture of the harness itself.
Might possibly be looking into mounting two aditional red foot well lights under the back of the front seats for the rear. ( rice? sure call it what you want but rugrats drop crazy stuff and when your arms are full and want to see a little better i think it will be a nice little add on.)
Thanks for any help guys/gals.

Here is the light with the metal shroud removed:
The harness is literally just two wires in a small spring clip.

Hey Guys,
Does the Stock GTI include both Front and Rear footwells? Thinking of doing a Retrofit.
Thanks

Do not get this kit if you don't have a US spec car, it will not fit, the front light panel is different.
This:
Will not fit into this:
Despite the website saying it will fit "2009-2012 Volkswagen MK6 Golf or GTi". Hopefully I get a refund, will keep you in the loop.

Installed mine today, they look great, got mine from LED Wholesalers.
In other news I ordered a couple extra T10 whites for the footwells, the retrofit kit hasn't come in yet, so popped them in the License Plate. Threw the Bulb error, VAGCOM'd it out with an Module 09, Byte 23, Bit 6 un-check. Profit.

Alright some weirdness. So it finally got dark out and I noticed when I have the switch set to on when door open, the lights are all on, just really dim. If I switch to all off the bulbs do shut completely off. Anyone else see this.

Maybe reseat them?
I got mine on Friday and just tonight saw them at night. The soft white light they put out looks clean. Can't wait to get the license plate kit. My base Golf ended up not having footwell lights, so I got two extra LEDs. Oh well hehe
And yeah. Don't do blue LOL
#87
Well tried reseating them, found this on myfastgti
The Vehicle Electrical System Controller J519 also can dim / turn on and off the ceiling light branch of the circuit without effecting the branch driving the glove box, visor mirror vanity lights and rear compartment light. A side effect of this ceiling branch control seems to be a small amount of current leakage in just that branch when the dome / map bulbs should be off. aka LED 'glow while off'. With the stock incandescents this current leakge is absorbed without glowing the filaments so it is not a concern. LEDs are more efficient and they will glow on the small current leakage. No harm, but can be a bit annoying. To eliminate the 'glow while off' , just one good error canceling LED can absorb the stray current and eliminate the annoyance. I put mine in the rear center dome position.
Looks like I need just one of the error clearing type. No one else has see this?

Let me know how it works out and where you ordered them from...curious how many LED's the error canceling ones you bought have, too. I did a quick search and only found ones that had 2 LED's.
Just did this install with LED's from LED Wholesalers for both my 2012 Passat and my wife's 2012 JSW. The Passat was fine, but the SportWagen definitely has the issue. Your description from myfastgti seems to make sense, because I put the old filament bulb back in the center slot of the rear dome light and it seems to absorb the leakage, so the the 4 LED wedges fully turn off.
Keep us posted...

Footwell kit is in from Bold Sport. Looks like it's a winner, ordered last Weds. got it today so one week to get.
Anyways, here are the lights themselves they look identical to the original OEM ones I pulled out from other areas.
The lights with the wiring harness.
They used OEM light connectors you can see the Audi/VW symbol. Other than that its just one ground "O" to something under the dash and the one trigger wire to the CECM.
I should have the LED's at my APT today so if my back is up to it (tossed it this weekend), I'll try and get them in tonight and do a little DIY action if people would like.

Do they have the metal shield around them as well? The Foot well and glovebox lights do on the GTI.
Related note - I don't seem to have the residual light when my LED's are 'off' that has been reported above.

I dont see red for this bulbs - http://www.ledwholesalers.com/store/...&productId=337

They currently do not have red. I got those from superbrightleds.com along with the two CANBUS bulbs that I needed for the voltage leakage.

Alright, sorry for all the posts today, it was a good day for deliveries for this project.
So I got the CANBUS bulbs in today as well. I can report that by installing one CANBUS bulb in the middle dome light spot it takes all the light leakage out of all five overheads (dome and map).
For the footwells I am doing one of each bulb. One 6 SMD T10 bulb (red) for the passenger side, and another CANBUS (red) in the drivers side. Below is the CANBUS installed in the drivers footwell.
And the 'normal' 6 SMD T10 in the passenger side
And as any good IT guy should have a spare old computer he can use for a 12V power supply to test, here they are lit up.
So my final shopping list ended up looking like this.
Domes/Maps
(4X) Six SMD T10 Bulbs in White (Link)
(1X) 5 SMD T10 CANBUS Bulb in White (Can't Link Part # WLED-NW5-CBT @ superbrightleds.com)
Glovebox
(1X) Six SMD T10 Bulbs in White (Link)
Trunk
(1X) 42mm Six SMD Festoon in White(Link)
Mirror/Visor
(2X) 37mm Three SMD Festoon in White(Link)
Footwells
(1X) Six SMD T10 Bulb in Red ( Can't Link Part # WLED-RHP6-AC @ superbrightleds.com)
(1X) 5 SMD T10 CANBUS Bulb in Red (Can't Link Part # WLED-R5-CBT @ superbrightleds.com)
For those of you with newer 2012 Golfs/GTI's with newer CECM software, you can use
License Plate
(2X) Six SMD T10 Bulbs in White (Link)
NOTE: You will need a VAGCOM to clear the error. Module 09, Byte 23, Bit 6 un-check. It's called Cold Bulb Check for License Plate Light(s) (or something like that).
I'll post back during/after the install.
