Thread: Vibration Issue after replacing suspension components.

  1. 06-08-2012 10:37 AM #1
My Jetta is lowered for several years with the Bilstein Pss9 without any issues. I replaced both axles with raxles, ball joints and VF engine mounts. All bolts are torque to specs. The car vibrates only when moving (no engine vibration whatsover when in idle or in-motion). Raised the front end with jacks and visually inspected the axles, wheels/tires and without the wheels when in motion up to 80mph (safety first) and no binding or vibration or interferance. Thus the car vibrates when the car is on the ground maybe binding issue?. Does the OEM mounts the same ht. as the VF? Do I need spacers to raise the engine or go back to the oem mounts? Do you guys have any ideas what is causing this?

    24V VR6sc with Tiptronic.

what year is your jetta? sketchy guess but i would look at the lower control arm bushings, strut mount bushings and possiby the wheel bearings. i've been low(ered) for quite some time and these items do see premature wear causing the symptoms you described.. good luck

Could your vibration issue be coming from the increased stiffness of the VF mounts over the OEM ones? How severe is the vibration?

I remember when I replaced my bushings in my dogbone to stiffer ones. The increased vibration at idle is noticeably higher. Under power, it goes away entirely.

The vibration is rotational so, vibrates starts of at low speed ~3mph and increases as speed increase. No vibration at idle. The vibration is severe on my opinion since it is too uncomfortable to drive. All bushing are in good shape. The vf motor mounts many be lower in height versus OE...causes the axle to bind? No clunking or clicking. No vibration when car is jacked up from start to ~80mph.

I have the BSH motor/tranny mounts. There is significant vibration during low speed acceleration if it isn't a smooth transitional from stopped to moving, even enough to rattle everything in the car.

New doesnt mean good, Raxles have always been awesome for me. And marty has always been real easy to work with. Yank them out one by one and check their articulation.

well maybe, you describe a vibration under load (mounts) but rotaional (axles).
swap the mounts out and see if it goes away.

swap the mounts=no more vibration mounts are cause
swap the mounts=vibration present swap axles

i gues you can sway its something you just did since this started after putting the parts in the car.
