    Hey,

Just put a 32/36 on my 1.7 Rabbit. It was FI to begin with (but that system died) and I got the manifold/adapter/carb all from the same guy. Everything fits but it has a vacuum leak around this mating surface, probably due to a crap gasket. Anyone know where this manifold may have come from so I can try to track down a new gasket? Thanks.

The picture doesn't help very much. Can you take one back a little bit more to see things better and maybe the whole manifold? The 1.7 did come with a carburetor but it was a single barrel and an adapter would be required to mount a 32/36. There are other VW carburetor manifolds which would work also but they too would require an adapter. Most "kits" sold for VW engines include an adapter which often bolts to the rubber/metal carburetor mounting gasket. These ruber/metal mounting gaskets are expensive and often hard to find now. But try a different picture and maybe something will show up.

I've seen the stock VW 1.7L carb manifolds and they only appear to have two bolts with one circular opening. This one has a longitudinal oval opening (a lot like the 32/36) but has four bolts. I'm going to take the carb off tomorrow and squirt some gasket maker on there to see if it helps, I'll take some better pictures then.
