    Thread: 100mm cv axle swap problem

      so i swaped tranny in my 84 rabbit to a 9a with a 80 shim kit (so far so good) the cv axles how ever rub on the inside of the wheel baring carriers so can i just grind the CV axle for clearance i heard i would be able to just wanted to dubble cheak befor i hack stuff up

      When I did mine I took off maby a 1/8 th or a hair more

      85 and later cabriolet or rocco.

      there's a dimple on the inside of the knuckle just before the strut mounting points that signify it as a 100mm axle setup

      What is a knukle? Do somebody have a pic?

      Spelled "knuckle".

      Refers to the item that holds the wheel bearings, the hub, and the attachments for the front strut, lower control arm, and outer tie rod.

      "Spindle" is also used interchangeably, but that might be better used to refer to the rear device that holds the rear wheels and bearings.
