Thread: Albuquerque Shop? Need clutch replaced.

  1. 06-12-2012 10:39 AM #1
Two questions really. First, where are people taking VWs in Albuquerque these days? The clutch is slipping on my jetta, which leads to my second question:

What's a reasonable quote on a clutch replacement? The place I've been going for a while (not trying to call him out online, so I won't name it) quoted me $1200, which seemed pretty high to me. I also don't know if that is a current, reasonable rate, so I didn't want to haggle with him from a position of ignorance.

The car is a 2003 jetta, 1.8t, 5 spd. When I last had the clutch replaced, several years ago, I had the single mass flywheel conversion done, replaced with a 228 mm flywheel, sachs clutch, etc. The parts kit I bought at the time was an ECS stage 1 kit, iirc.

    Thanks,
    Jeff
