I want to travel between a Thurs and Mon in November for my birthday but I don't know where to go? I've got some airline miles to use for the flight and I want to keep it in the U.S.

I won't be going to CA since I grew up there and have been 4 times in the last couple years, and I want a vacation, not a family visit. I've been tossing around the idea of going back to Portland and then a day or so in Hood River but I'm not sure yet. The wife wants to go tropical, but it's my birthday so while that could be fun, it's not the at the top of the list.

Also, good public transportation would be nice so I won't have to rent a car or drive (I like to drink).

So where is a cool place to go in early November?

Since you already said no to Vegas, why not Miami? It's always a party down there. Or what about NYC?

I'd love to, but the weekend isn't that long.

I'm thinking possibly Grand Cayman, Portland is still in the running, and also Disney World.

haha, back in college, a couple of my friends literally did a weekend in Switzerland. Flew out, spent maybe 10 hours there, and then flew back. They felt it was worth it for the story itself

    Montreal -- Beautiful city/awesome food/awesome bars.

NYC --- You can never go wrong.

New Orleans -- Never been but want to go.

Miami -- You get the somewhat tropical part/and drinking part.

Long weekend in November also brings up the idea of going to Vermont for some skiing..

****... being in Texas and having miles to use I would hop over to Playa Del Carmen... I just got back this month and it was a GREAT time. And all you really need is the long weekend for that.

good idea. perhaps more off the beaten path is Sanibel/Captiva. Spent a few nights on Captiva with the wife and had a great time.
