I've got a 2006 Jetta TDI that is just about to turn 100,000 miles (the last year I had to commute 60 miles a day).

I normally get a new car when a car gets to this point, and after just completing the 100,000 mile service I was thinking of getting a new Jetta TDI, even though there is nothing wrong with my current car which I spend a lot of money keeping as new as possible.

However, when I went to look at the new Jetta TDI I was struck at:

a) How incredibly expensive it is because of all the goodies they add whether you want them or not
b) I wanted to switch to an automatic because of the stop-and-go traffic, but most modles have six speed manuals - you have to pay a lot to get an auto
c) The interior quality of the new modle is not as good as my current car
d) They have reduced the choice of colors - I was hoping to keep the same as a I have - the cream color
e) reduced warranty

My mechanic says I should keep what I have which will last another 100,000 miles, but experience tells me that after a 100,00 miles cars just need more work. But I don't want to get a lesser TDI than the one I have now.

I'd appreciate any comments people may have.

Thanks.
