Howdy folks!!
Movin to Oahu 1 August!
Been in to water cooled vw's since the mid 90's and just closed down my shop in Kansas. I rebuilt about 100 or so mk4 jettas, beetles, passats, golfs, whatevers for the last 6 years. I had a sweet hookup and would buy all the local VW dealer trade-ins that had major issues for next to nothing..
I plan on starting back up again in Hawaii once we get established..
I will have full VAGCOM service.. Cost from the dealer on parts.. and I shipped 3 roll-away tool chests full of spare parts. A couple of transmissions and heads as well!
I can do just about anything a dealer could do with exception to cutting keys.. I CAN get SAFE codes for radios as well.
We are currently looking out houses in Mililani and Kapolei (found a sweet 3 car garage/shop out there)
looking forward to meeting some of you guys!

yeah no kidding!!
All set up in Makakilo and I have established hookups at Tony and Honolulu VW for parts...
Already been through 5 cars since I have gotten here in August.. and I must say its a little more difficult here on Oahu no having a dealers license here![]()

Hope you don't mind me asking, but how did you ship all your tools? I'm thinking of moving to Lanai and was wondering what's the best way to get big items over to the islands from where I live in L.A.

well I am active duty military so i was allowed 17,000 lbs for shipping...
but I have done some research and "renting" a Matson 44' container is a flat rate of $6200 from Oahu to the midwest.. (even can put a car it in) So I guess they could do a quote to Lani..??
Good luck!!

Thanks for your reply, I'll be doing some research for good prices. Nice ride by the way.... Very tight.

I'm pretty sure I saw your Passat in Waikiki around the first of the year. I just got here in November from Alaska and had to leave 3 VW's there.

lol.. my wife is a tourist at heart.. we are down there at least once a weekend turning japanese *cue song
I found its easier to take the station wagon due to our three children.. two of them will eventually turn on one of them.. so the least favorite or the instigator at the time gets booted to the back where there are no seatbelts
