Thread: UK anniversary 16v more door.

  1. 06-17-2012 12:34 PM #1
Long time vortex lurker but this ist first build thread. Had a few mk2 and Polo models in the past, this is my third mk3 and the first I've really really liked!

Picked it up as a "rare" 16v five-door anni, completely standard with the OE recaro interior, 16" splits and funky clocks, gearknob and handbrake.

Coilovers on, nice bit if nose down stance

Orange CL spec rear lamps, eBay rare Section 5 sticker, got the car home from work and give it a mega quick sponge over and linseed oiled the black trim. Binned the mudflaps.

Rear wiper assembly removed, rubber blank fitted.

Orange front indicators and wing repeaters, morette style headlights, binned the smoked reflectors as they were smashed.

It's getting there... Also, wheels are going full white. Really really want this on the road as soon as possible.

Oh and lupo in the background belongs to the mrs.

Chris. <--- kind of a big deal...

I'm jealous. Glad you're doing something about those stupid black wheels, too.

However, putting a sticker on that says "F**king Classy" is in and of itself not classy. Is that supposed to be funny or something?
    Grow up, remove the stickers.
WTB: late mk3 front "GTI" emblem in red. PM me with a pic.

Those window stickers have to go. Other than that she's clean. Any rust?

  4. 06-17-2012 01:17 PM #4
Funnily enough the classy sticker has gone and they're hardly permanent anyway... I do always tend to have a constantly changing collection though.
HATE the black wheels, always have hated black wheels! I have some cans of white laying around but like the idea of polished lips with grey/anthracite centres.
There is some rust in small tiny little patches, coin sized.

Jealous. If I could have any MKIII, this would be it. Nice score.

I love this car, I want an ABF so bad. That being said I'd lose the stickers and change the headlights back or go smoked hella.

Looks like my car but red-

  7. 07-04-2012 03:36 PM #7

French style long fogs are here.

Also, car is getting finishing touches for inspection carried out as we speak.

Really enjoying gold wheels on a red car at the moment too...

EDIT: car back at the dealership with new metal welded into the sills.

those hatch stickers look dumb as hell on such a clean car.
    welcome to the layer cake

  12. 07-20-2012 08:42 AM #12
Honestly it's nowhere near as clean as it looks lol plus stickers will cOme off anyway when it's tidied up

  13. 09-01-2012 05:51 AM #13
Ok so it's on the road and I'm loving driving it. Still needs a proper clean and a good wash and Hoover inside but who cares?

Got the French style long fogs on it. Considering going back to standard headlights too.

Cupra style cat-back system (de-cat and huge cone filter coming soon)

    Then... The first trial fit...

Gonna take some work but looks manageable. I hope...

Ha knew you'd say that! We had this conversation before remember?
Totally understand your feeling on the subject but, with respect, I'm gonna fit em anyway.
If that sounded douchey it wasn't meant to buddy.

  16. 09-01-2012 09:23 AM #16
No matter what you do someone is always gonna have a negative comment for it.

Wheels don't look bad.. Curious to what size tyre you're gonna put on there. And specs on the wheels? I don't think I seen them posted.

  17. 09-01-2012 09:56 AM #17
Yeah I realise that, I asked for advice on fitting as i know 10s have been done before and he said the same then, fair enough everybody in entitle to a shout I suppose, it's a public forum

They're 17x8 front, 17x10 rear et 30. Guy on our side of the pond has similar wheels with 215 and 225/35 tyres fitted and it looked great. They need spacing by 5mm or so on the back, possibly with the Coilover plate adjusting up slightly but trial and error will sort it out I guess.
