My Tamiya tt01e Mk5 GTI build/Progression (Going as low as possible)

Hey everyone, this is my tamiya mk5 gti. I just have it to mess around with every now and then, but never the less here are some pics of its progression.

When I first got it








After that I got some BBS Rs wheels mad by team pogi and lowered it a little.

In some of the pics i was messing around with some custom spacers.













It sat like this for a looooong time until recently.

I decided to bring some new life to it and order some fresh wheels.

The new wheels had a 6mm offset so obviously they didnt fit under the car and that means it was time for camber!

So after waiting a little while I got front and rear camber arms for it.

I put them in and the rears barely clear, but unfornutly the fronts rub like crazy.

So I will be shaving away at the arms until I get to where I want to be.

I ran into a bit of a problem though in the rear after adding alot of camber. The suspension wasnt decompressing.

I tried shaving down the finish on the screws and boring out the holes where the screws go, but no luck.

then i removed the dogbones and what do you know the suspension worked perfectly.

So, My question to you is how the hell do I shorten the dog bones? Any ideas are welcomed.

As for now its rolling around with the power only going to the front wheels.

Nice progression with the RC and looks great lowered. I don't think I've seen it done on a MK5 yet. I have those same wheels from Team Pogi. Either going on my current MK3 Golf or Corrado shell once I finish.

Obviously why not ! after all every RC car lover wants to have his car and other stuffs highlighted and updated, whether it is an event or rally or a leisure time. In addition to that I would also like to say that your car looks extremely sporty and trendy.

Couldn't stand my 1/16 slash. No ground clearance to run with the big boys, and kept stripping ring and pinions (though I had an early launch unit, and hear they no longer need shimming). For bashing, yeah its great for what it is and a total rocket when you are on dirt. But don't get me started on "what a great drifter" it is....

If you want to start drifting, may I suggest some cambered tires?

For the dogbones, possibly mod the cup on the diff side, to allow for more depth?

Or, just find a shorter CVD/dog bone.

Yea I was thinking about trying to dremel some plastic off the ends of the dogbones to see if that helps. Trust me I already tried to find some shorter dogbones, but ofcourse no such thing exists haha.

They're out there (though I'm not sure what size the TT01 uses stock).

Try looking for ta-05, yokomo, xray, spec r double jointed etc... There's lots of sizes; just need some good bing-fu!

What kind of motor is that? Is it brushless?

It looks great but I wonder, like in "real life" cars, how does it run now at high speeds? Or do you not take it up that fast?

Na it isnt brushless, but it is a great improvement over stock. It ran great before the car went under the knife, but I havnt really had a chance to go fast since then. All I have done are little test runs because the car isnt 100% yet. Ill report back when I have it set up the way i want it to be.

I've seen a lot of VERY fast cars and are not brushless, you can still get insane speeds from your good ol' fashion brushed motors. Turn that baby over until you get a monster out of it... I've never actually tweaked a brushed motor, I hear about all the crazy stuff you do to it (new motors get run by themselves in a cup of water) WTF!!!

I got into the game late and my toy was alreay upgraded to a brushless, so thats why Im a fan of them. It just amazes me of how much power you can get out of such a small motor.

the traxxas above is a drift car probably be alot better with the gyro, but it comes stock with drift tires. traxxas also made new diff housings with a screw that runs through them so no need for shims anymore. i have never stripped pinions in my 1/16 revo or rally although i did have alot of problems with snapping drive shafts. deffitnly alot of fun doing 30 mph backflips

Nice man! I was just amazed a thow detailed the light buckets are on my mk5. They have some awsome stuff.
