Thread: help with xenon projectors for mk5

  1. 06-17-2012 09:45 PM #1
I need some new headlights for my wife's jetta. I don't want to spend $1200 for some Hella xenon projectors considering the value of the car. I just want to improve the lighting setup. I found some nice projectors on ebay from a reputable seller but don't know how good the quality is.

    I was thinking either these:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/150835052038...038%26_rdc%3D1

and put in some silverstar ultras to get a bright white/yellow look or some other blue coated halogens

    or

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/170858006336...336%26_rdc%3D1

and go with the hid ballasts. However I don't want any error codes or problems with the xenons. Halogens are cheaper and easier to install so I like that aspect. The seller emailed me and said that he will include an "error canceller" on the hid kit so it's a matter of plug and play. Lighting aside, how good are the DEPO housings? Are they good quality?

Also if I go with the hids, should I ask for 6k, 7k, 8k, etc? I am trying to achieve stock GTi/GLi DRL look.

    Thanks!

all honesty, save your money and buy Hella Look Xenon, or buy the OEM versions.

thanks for your input, I appreciate it.

Do you know the difference between this and this

also can you recommend some H7 bulbs? I might be interested in HIDs in the future but want to get the projectors first.

I believe they are the same - made by Hella - TMTuning being outside of NA i would probably order from ECS. the H7 drop in kit works good; i have a good friend that bought these and they work perfectly fine for him. Glad i could help!

THey both do have a different cut off pattern than the DOT pattern. Do a search or look up on google for DOT vs E-Code projector cut off patterns.

H7 Bulbs i would look at GE Nightguide, Philips Crystalvision Ultra, Osram Silverstar, or I actually got a pair of Ziza Super White bulbs for my fog lights and they worked pretty good. Since upgrading to HID projector fogs; I ended up putting them into a family member's car and they still worked out really good in the low beams.
