I know this is the 3.2 engine forum, so before i get nailed to the cross here, I am just looking for a trans that will bolt up to this engine thats it nothing else.

So me and two friends back home are having an idea, well the early stages of a race car project. We got our hand on a BUUUUUUUUSTED ass 1982 924. Engie is shyt, and the trans is non existant, it was a $400 car. Oddly the inteior is an 8 outta 10?? So we happened across a 3.2VR for a mire $1800, with a rebuilt head, with 65K or so on the block. Now were were wondering what kind of RWD man trans are out there that will mate up to the 3.2 VR?

I think porsche used the 3.2VR in one of their cars/ suv's but I am not sure, any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are no rwd only units that "just bolt up." The Audi 01E can be mated with the adapter plate that's used in the Treg, Q5, Q7, etc but that's awd. Quicktime does have a 4cyl/Audi V6 bell for the T5/T56 but you'd still need that adapter and I don't know if anyone has tried to do that exact setup yet.

Use the 01E and weld the center diff. Then you're set

someobody needs to make a set of adapter plates for a RWD tranny. If you build it they will come. Didnt Forcefed build his own adapter plate on his corrado?

VW has oem adapter plates for the 01E and the 01E 034 motorsport had in their 1300hp race car had a welded center diff.

Now that you're contemplating these ideas, why not see what it would take to make this happen? I mean honestly, be a front running, think outside the box. Anything can be welded up to any trans to make it 'adapt' to the motor. The real trouble is finding a clutch, flywheel setup that will make the peg fit in the hole. Once you've figured all that out, then comes proper gearing for the motor. Once you have everything spec'd out and working, PROFIT!

I want so badly to be able to do just this in my own life. Make something work that no one expected.

    Cheers
