MK1 GTI interior question - has anyone ever re-upolstered to original design?

Has anyone ever reupholstered their GTI or done carpet/headliner replacement? If so, how much did it cost and was it pretty close to original?
Plus of having a car from Vegas: zero rust! Minus: shot interior, moldings, and bit faded paint....

There are lots of threads about the original upholstery for US GTIs. Basically the fabric is no longer available anywhere unless someone can come up with a lot of money to reproduce it. There was a place in Oregon that had the last of the blue fabric but it was sold about 5 years ago.
So essentially you can redo the interior but you wont find original material unless someone hoarding it wants to sell it and it will be expensive. Do some searching. You will find info...
