I guess FSwerks makes a turbo kit for these cars. 190whp, 200wtq Would be a fun little sleeper.

Think it'll shave some time off the stock 12.1sec 0-60 and 18.7sec 1/4mile times???

The stock 4spd auto can barely handle the fire breathing 2.0 NA 140hp of fury..

I wonder if you can retrofit a 5sp manual on there.
There are no old Porsches - just new owners.

Other than the 4-speed auto, and 5-speed manual, were there any other Focus transmission options?
I've got one of these 2011 Transit Connects, and it's pretty sweet really, but the 4-speed auto is ... boring, and slow. Even a 5-speed auto would be better >_<

I'm talking to FSWerks right now to find out all the details on a Transit turbo kit, but a little better trans could be NICE.

Focus wise, not to my knowledge. If you feel daring, you could look into the 6-speed manual from a late model Fusion. In theory, it could work. But may require different axles.

Care to share why you decided to buy a Transit Connect? I love the practicality of having so much space, so I'm interested to see your reasoning. Thanks.

Well, lets see. I *was* driving a 2002 limited edition 1.8T Beetle...

(more pics and info on the mods over here : http://www.flickr.com/photos/evanrud...7601322051275/)

I LOVED that car. Did some nice, tasteful mods, upgraded a few bits and parts... but my other half wasn't a fan of the Beetle. I mean, sure, it really isn't the best vehicle for hauling much, but it was a GREAT car.

Add to that, I have injured my spine and knees a few times, and they've gone and developed degenerative arthritis in my lower seven vertebrae *and* in my knees. So on days when I needed to run a number of errands, climbing in and out of the Beetle hurt quite a bit.

So I started looking around for fun, unique looking vehicles that would provide both headroom, AND hauling room, as well as the same sort of sense of uniqueness that I had driving my Beetle. And the Transit Connect has a metric ton of headroom, and I've met a LOT of people that just want to come talk to me because they have no idea what it is I"m driving. Not to mention the awesome shelf above the windshield. I can pop my DSLR up there as well as pile of other items.

And the 136 cubic feet of storage came in handy when we had to move last month.

But.. I'm a little more sad every day that I don't still have a Beetle. Double Yellow was the best color EVER. If I could find a little 1.8T Beetle that nobody wanted.. I'd be happy! *chuckle*

But since I"m on disability, I'm on a really limited budget.

Using Photoshop.. I"ve already planned on how I"m going to modify the Transit. Just trying to find a shop somewhere that's willing to lower it for me. The front shocks are, of course, Focus. But the rear springs are from an unknown vehicle, and they are leaf springs that would have to be flipped and have new hangers made. The guys in the UK do it for about $60 worth of parts for the back and $200 in Focus GT lowering springs in the front. So far, none of the shops that lower trucks are willing to touch it

But , once I find someone, and am able to save up to have some paint done... this is what I'm going to do.

@Brad : Sweet, I'll contact him, thank you very much!

@JimV : Yes! Loads of room in the back. From the inside of the back door, to the back of the seats (if you have the seats all the way back and a bit reclined), you have about 52-55 inches. If you put the passenger seat forward you have 62" of space. But most people that I know of that do carry a motorcycle in the back, roll it in and turn the wheel to the side, and that way they can still have both seats in full use. Mastertrack makes some nice E-track kits for the Transit, so you could just strap your bike in and take off. http://www.masterack.com/products.as...ref=1202397128

Mastertrack has a number of nice products for lining the walls of the van, shelves, desks, etc.

6spd from an SVT Focus. It was a getrag transmission. The same as what the cooper S has I believe.

    Transit RS

*oy*. I'd love a 6-speed, I really would. But my better half doesn't drive a manual, and we share the van on occasion. So it has to be an automatic of some sort

Evanrude: Thanks for the breakdown and sorry to hear about your medical issues.

I too considered getting one for all the room in the back, and low rear area. Was going to use it to transport bicycles and motorcycles mostly. If I get back into riding, I'll seriously reconsider getting one.
