BTW, volvos are great pet cars![]()
My 40lb Sharpei chills on the backseat in his car harness. And I have plenty of room in the trunk for all the bodies, I mean travel needs. Just bought a 5 person tent to go camping, and a tandem kayak is next for my GF and me.

WOW! That is all good info to have, thanks very much! I have located a couple Elements in my area thatI would likt to take a look at. It really seems like they are holding their value really well. There is a kiwi green with a 5spd at a local Mini dealer, one owner with 98k on it for $12.5? Does that price sound decent?
OH, and to all who have replied.....Thanks! My first successful thread evar![]()

I picked up my 05 AWD EX for $10,000 in February. It had 76k on it. I gave up on trying to find a 5spd, AWD, EX without a gazillion miles and settled for an auto. Given that the car is a big tupperware box, I figured not even a 5spd will sport it up.
It took me about 2 months of shopping and ultimately a flight to Chicago to get it just to find a car that I felt was a good deal.
My buddy's got an 06 Kiwi Green EX-P, and I like the color a lot.For my money, though, if I could pick anything, it'd be a 5spd EX in Cargo Khaki.

They do hold their value. I bought mine about a year ago a 08 with 28k on the odometer in SC trim for 19k
Here is one in your area for a good price 5 speed and AWD
2005 Element with low miles AWD and 5 speed

I don't know what prices are like down there...but in Canada that would be a great deal. Personally, I would hold out for a manual if you can. I think it made a big difference in the feel of the vehicle having driven both at the dealer when we bought ours. Although it does rev pretty high on the highway (about 3000rpm at 100km/h so about 60mph), which may be a consideration for you if you do lots of highway driving. We did a number of long road trips, including St. John's Newfoundland to Vancouver, BC, and it was great. Just had to hold on bit when the winds were really strong. I think the best fuel economy I got with the manual was about 25mpg, which seemed ok. I think it was around 20mpg in town. I'm sure better can be had if you were careful. Just some info to consider. But I put about 60000miles on ours in 3 years and really enjoyed it and never anything other than scheduled services done.

Congrats on the pup!
I got a 4runner for our 2 dogs who ride in travel crates in the car. I wanted a 4wd vehicle anyway so this works out great.

Just thought I would update this thread. I ended up with and Element. I have been searching for about two months now and everything I had looked at was door dinged and scratched. I'm pretty particular when it comes to my vehicles and I began tho thing that I would have to settle for something that was not up to my standards.
This past Friday I was searching autotrader as I do every day, but this time I increased the dollar amount on the search by $1k and wouldnt you know it the "one" was on the first page at the top. I was still a bit skeptical but decided to make the trip and take a look. Eight hours later I drove it off the lot. 2006 Element silver with the blue fenders and such, with only 36k miles on it! Needless to say I am very happy I didn't give up![]()

man, you know you really love your dog when you're willing to countenance an Element for x number of years...
not saying it's a bad car, just boring.
