this may be a really stupid question, but as i have read recently, i want to be smarter.
the IC on the A3 is an air exchange intercooler, correct? not water/air.

wondering how involved the swap to the S3 IC is?
I just spent about 15 minutes typing out how to do the S3 intercooler swap and then my iPad crapped out and I lost my post Anyway, it's not too bad if you have a friend to help out. There are a few DIYs for MKVs that will get you most of the way there. There are a couple of differences but you should be able to figure it out when you get in there. It took me about 4 hours to do it by myself

Yeah, sorry, air to air. I answered that in my lost reply Um, yeah I think it is. It is a substantial upgrade over the stock IC and seems to flow better as well. For $300 and an afternoon of your time, it's not too bad

kinda think i might toss that on before getting a flash and DP. pretty much pull the front facia off, unbolt the OEM IC, cut the hose ends and mount/hook up the S3 IC? how much of a PITA would it be to upgrade to the S3 hoses as well?

Not sure if it's a pain necessarily, they are just ridiculously expensive for what they are. You will definitely notice more of an improvement with a downpipe and stage 2 flash. I'm sure you will get more benefit from the S3 intercooler running a tune than you will notice on stock software, too. So...personally I would do the intercooler after a downpipe and tune, but that's just me

@beckermanex - Yup total DIY. Jack up the car, remove the wheels, put the spacer on, put the wheels back.
So do I need new bolts or no for that spacer range?

Yes you pretty much need new bolts with any spacer size you put on.

Awesome, thanks for the help, I feel smarter already I'm assuming the bolts aren't hard to replace on the actual rotor?
