Slow progress again mainly cause this things pretty complete just minor things to do. I did get my suspension on and finished up the dash for the most part. Waiting on my dash speakers to arrive and tidy everything up.

Going to get the title done Monday then off to the shop for exhaust inspection and maybe an alignment depending on how bad it drives.

The drop brought everything together and it's nothing extreme no rubbing or anything although it is a little stiff but can't expect much more for $80 springs

One of my favorite VW advertisements so I put it on; VW Das Auto is on the back glass

Back for an update. Car is legal and exhaust and all was delayed til this week the day is set for Tuesday.

I tore my rear drum off and the brakes are metal to metal on a car that doesn't even got that many miles on it. Oh well I got a set so I'm going to put them on too.

I had a HORRIBLE time with CIS and I think I may have finally mastered that system lol. It wouldn't even pull a mountain at 35mph so I plugged all vaccum lines and checked for leaks; good. Went and put new cap spark plugs rotor; good but car still ran like shti so I went to the fuel pump to recognize that it was MK2 so swapped it for an original one and she runs like a champ now!

Here's some pics to show where it's at now.

I think she's going to make it to Dust Off on the 13th! We'll also be taking the truck pictured the black MK2 and blue Beetle TDI.

I don't believe I'm going to be able to get it cut and buffed in time for the show; I don't even think I'm going to be able to get my pinstriping done. CIS killed my bank lol.

Life has been going very good I got my license FINALLY already put 500 well enjoyed miles on my car. It's super fun but alignment is killing the enjoyment of going fast and struts are so bouncy from them being stocks that I need to replace ASAP.

The looks and the people that randomly compliment the car is well worth the 2 year restoration I did to it. It has quickly rised to one of the most popular foreign cars in my town people taking pics that I don't know etc. Really gives me inspiration. Most of them don't believe me when I tell them I restored it myself being only 16.

Pics of my adventures; it is my daily driver

I got some exciting things I have scheduled and talked to people to do for me so stay tuned for that if all goes well. For now I'm just enjoying life.

      A little update

Blew both front tires so went original!

      Our Dust Off '14 clan!

Then I had an accident was ripping on it down back roads it was really windy should've thought twice came over a blind hill and a tree was laying across the road not small by any means slammed on the brakes they locked up and the car started to veer off into the woods. I wouldn't be writing this right now if somehow the tree bounced me straight

Luckily this was the only damage

And how she sits now (: minus german plate

Almost forgot that I bought this! So excited to rebuild it and learn more about motors and swaps while afterwards I'll enjoy the power gains.

Gonna probably boost it so stay tuned. My plans are rebuild it drop her in and a little down the road turbo it all depends on my money situation.

Should be an exciting feat though I'll rip into her as soon as I get it to the house. The dude only wants core price for it.

      wonderful job man!

when you had the black rims, looked liked mine did back in the late 80's

i had black gti w/ enkei wheels the looked like BBS wheels w/ 1 big lugnut, also had kamai rear spoiler.

brings back memories, i was bad to that car but i was 18ish at the time.

best of luck, sticky side on the road!

Thanks man like all of our Volkswagens they're a work in progress lol the paint needs done BAD as in cut and buffed but I'm pleased with it she gets me to work to the gfs house etc it's broke down a few times but nothing major I fixed it all on the side of the road lol.

Yeah I need those wheels back on I miss them so much I'm in progress of redoing them the same way they were before but the right way I want them glossy not flat.

And I rip the living day lights out of this car I feel bad running it like that but it's way too fun I'm wondering why I'm only getting low 20s fuel mileage lol!

Great work saving a MK1 GTI, reminds me of my 83, I really wish I still had that car. Nice to see another PA VW guy too.

Oh ok not awfully far away I'm a lone gun down in the redneck boondocks where everyone drives lifted diesel trucks so yeah lol.

Couldn't find no body shop to do my pin striping so I did it myself best $15 I could've invested!
