he's wearing shorts too. i guess tech is pretty laid back there....lol.
#19
yeah i have to admit the tech is not that advanced as USA guys but shorts doesnt have to do anything with tech ,tech is the 8 s in such a car
thanks
#20
sorry....it was short for tech inspection. they would never let that car run in the US without a cage, or a parachute for that matter. and noone gets to race with shorts on. not at the major tracks anyways. there's always some backwoods tracks where anything goes.

MK4.... its actually technically a Haldex, as the 4-motion is in the Passat which is Longitudinal.
it uses 02M trans, for Haldex. it is setup transversely.
Generally, Volkswagen would use Haldex Traction clutch system on their "4motion" transverse engined cars. For longitudinal engined cars, they would use a Torsen differential-based 4WD system or lockable centre differential instead.
#25
#26
right. 4-motion was VW's trademark name, and Quattro was the Audi trademark name, for AWD.
just like the Audi TT which is called Quattro but in reality it is transverse Haldex based.
4motion is a registered trademark of Volkswagen AG, used exclusively on Volkswagen-branded automobiles which utilise four-wheel drive (4WD) systems. Volkswagen has previously used the term "Syncro" for its 4WD models.
Of the Volkswagen Group's other marques, the "quattro" nomenclature is used for 4WD Audi cars. Sister companies Škoda simply uses the nomenclature "4x4" after the model name, whereas SEAT merely uses "4".
None of the above trademarks are specific to any particular 4WD system or technology being employed.

no chute on either car either...@ 150mph here in the states you need a chute.
i wanna know what was done to the motor to hold that much power without launching the head into outer space
1.8L 16v making 1013 AWD whp.....for about 10 grand i can get my 16v to 500hp at the crank reliably, but >1000??? at the wheels AWD...i MUST know
Too bad VW stopped building cars in 1992...they might have been on to something.the VW community ain't what it used to be, it has turned into competition rather than camaraderie....

a chute comes next year.
@G-duber: open your eyes. there is a cage and all technical is correct, he needs only a chute.
#32
