Raod rage in LA on the I-5 (warning: graphic content)

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the recorded road rage beating of a man on the 5 Freeway and held a news briefing early Wednesday morning.

Reports of the beating caught on a cell phone video that was uploaded to YouTube (then later removed) surfaced Tuesday after the evidence appeared on Live Leak.

Graphic indeed, the video shows a verbal confrontation between two men escalate to punching, kicking and tearing of shirts. One of the assailants is joined by a pal, and those two proceed to knock the opposing man to the ground and repeatedly kick him in the head -- even after he loses consciousness. Not only is the fray a disgusting display of human indecency, so is the cameraman's resistance to help the fallen man.

As of 8:30am Wednesday morning, the video has been viewed over 137,000 times.

CHP Officer Denise Joslin confirmed during this morning's briefing the incident apparently occurred at about 3:30pm on June 12 on the northbound I-5 south of Seventh Street along the East L.A. Interchange, according to City News Service.

Police are searching for all four men involved in the fight, and witnesses are urged to call the CHP Central Area office at 213-744-2331. The suspects' car -- a black VW Jetta -- can clearly be seen in the video along with its license plate number -- 3UGW962.

KABC reportedly interviewed the victim, who did not want his identity disclosed, and shed some light on what instigated the brawl.

In an exclusive interview with Eyewitness News, a man who claims to be the victim said the two men were taunting him on the freeway, stopped traffic and got out of the their car and approached him.

That's when the man, who did not want his identity disclosed, said his military instincts kicked in. He said he suffered a concussion and doesn't remember most of what happened.

Investigators are in the early stages of the investigation and currently have just the video as well as the 911 calls as evidence.

I'm pretty sure it's unknown neck and back injuries that you try not to move. Granted he wasn't doing him any favors by pulling him by the arm, however keeping him conscious was a good move.

This guy did society as a whole more of a favor by having undeniable evidence to lock the 3 guys up. They're obviously people that our society is better without so hopefully they're able to be tracked down and locked up... Random guess: I'll bet they have criminal records

To be perfectly honest, I think the guy was asking for a beat down... Who fights 3 people? Who starts a fight by trying to kick someone.. other than Chuck Norris? And in a magenta shirt, no less. I think the other guys went a little far by kicking him when he was already unconscious but other than that, it's another instance of people acting like animals and needing to settle things physically that could clearly have been walked away from. It's not as if the 3 of them jumped an innocent victim walking down the street unprovoked.

Only way he wins the 2 on 1 fight was if dropped the first guy with one punch or kick - his friend would have backed up and this all would have ended differently. Road rage episodes are scary - you never know how screwed up the other people are or what they are carrying.

Exactly. Unless you're an MMA fighter, why get in the middle of the altercation? You'll just create another victim. Call 911, record the video as evidence.
