GLWS, but the FIAT? I would think you would be all over the Golf R. Is that your 2nd choice?

I always considered the 2004 R32 a compromise is size, weight, handling, etc...remember, I come from the school of LESS is MORE. A proper car should weigh well under 2,000lbs. an have a screaming 4cyl. motor for power. I've had TVRs @ 1,400lbs and been around 1967 Lotus Elans and Elvas and Marcus and Turners...those are my kind of cars. The best thing about OUR R32s is the 4 wheel drive, the rest if pure fat.
The Abarth is 2,400 lbs...still a fatty, but the lightest and best handling car in it's class...A B A R T H
Doing a conjugal visit to my old TVR...145HP and 1,400 lbs...pure British ****...LOL

Right now the car has 135,000 miles on it. I just put on new (5,000 miles on them) OEM springs and shocks and the Bridgestone Pole Position tires have about 15,000 miles on them. It also comes with 4 Blizaks and 4 Continental all seasons. $11,000 firm. (at this point...LOL)

Too bad the Abarth is flip-over-friendly. At least, I know the 500 is and I believe the Abarth doesn't fix that problem.
Seriously, SCCA has banned them from Solo2 (autocross) because they roll too easily.
I'd love to have a Mk4 but can't swing that kind of money.
I have installed most of the popular bolt-on mods for a 2008 R32, minus suspension work. I know a lot about electronics and car audio, and have experience with VCDS ("vagcom"). I'm a radar/lidar countermeasure enthusiast. I like track days, autocross, and US Highway 129. I love aural pleasure.

They are presently not eligible because of a mathematical equation the SCCA uses to calculate the "SSF" or "Static Stability Factor". The 500 is just outside of their threshold. Word on the street is the SCCA is working on a solution to make these cars eligible. They are not rollover prone, that is internet scare-talk. I also believe a moderate drop with a set of coilovers recalculates what is necessary to get the Abarth in eligible range.
The threshold that limits the 500 was created with the intent to eliminate SUV's and pickup's from trying to join.
OP: I'm thinking of making the same switch, drove a black 500 Abarth last week. Did you get yours yet? How do you like it compared to the R? Feel free to PM, don't want to deter your sale thread.
Good luck with the sale, I've always seen your car bopping around the forums and it deserves to go to a good home![]()
