Last week I dropped by iPhone and shattered the screen. That is the first time I have ever broken the screen on an electronic device.

So I get it replaced by Apple for $49 (Thank god for the AppleCare+ warranty) and decided I needed better protection than the "sleeve" I had it in.

So I found a Ballistic Case on eBay for $26 shipped, brand new from an online retailer.

I finally received it today and put my phone into it. Easy as cake.

And good god this thing is bulky. When they say Military grade, they aren't kidding. The phone is cocooned in silicone and plastic. Needless to say, I am no longer worried about dropping it again.

The one downfall is that it is now considerably thicker, so carrying it in the pocket might be a little awkwad.

To counter that though, The ballistic case does come with a belt holster custom designed for it.

    Police?
Few people understand the psychology of dealing with a highway traffic cop. A normal speeder will panic and immediately pull over to the side. This is wrong. It arouses contempt in the cop heart. Make the bastard chase you. He will follow.

Only nerds use holsters. Hipster douches buy cases predicated on whether or not the case has a cut-out for the Apple logo.

I always liked the Ballistic cases over Otterboxes. Equal protection while being smaller. We call people using small cases or bumpers prime candidates for insurance or Applecare+.

I went from otter box to ballistic to life proof. Despite the quirks I'm really happy with my life proof. I spend my weekends on/in the water and have had the case save me more then once.

I try not to think of the fact that I have spent more on cases then I did the phone itself.
