So yesterday I was driving down a road when I heard a sub frame hitting noise when shifting into 3rd. The car is lowered and i hit the subframe regularly so i didn't think much of it.
I get home 10 mins later and notice a trail of oil to my car, all the way down the street. I take a look under the car and there is a pool of oil under it. I jack it up and see this:
The whole right bottom of the car is covered in oil. Upon further inspection i cant find any kind of crack in the bell housing. I checked the top of the tranny and there is a small pool of oil right next to the shifter assembly, still cant find any cracks for fluid to leak out of.
Next step is taking apart the shifter assembly on top of the tranny to check if i can find anything, but i wont be able to get started on that until monday. Im wondering if there are any seals or things that could break on top of the tranny? Possibly the access for the selector shaft?
To give you an idea of how bad it was leaking, the puddle is where i stopped to shift into reverse.
TL;DR: lost a lot of tranny fluid (if not all) after hearing a noise shifting into 3rd. No visible damage to the bell housing, lots of fluid on top of the tranny so im guessing its originating from there. Is there anything that can break/come loose at the top and cause all my fluid to leak out.
