I can't figure this one out. Sometimes I tun it on all the way and it blows very little, barely noticeable and then it comes on eventually. Sometimes it works fine. Sometimes it seems to come on if I hit a bump or something and then off. How the hell can I figure out whats going on?

It's not really clear if you are talking about the A/C (air comes out but is not cool) or the fan (no air at all). Can you explain your issue a little more detailed?

OK just saw that you did say it blows very little. My question then: Does this happen when the AC is turned off just the fan on? Or is it only when the AC is on?

Nothing comes out at all. AC light comes on when pressed. It's very strange. All day yesterday it didn't work. LAst night worked fine.

I broke down and came to Jack Daniels Audi / VW. The first question they asked me was if the resistor was changed. He said that should have fixed it.

Yeah could be that. I was thinking of an issue I have on my car when I turn on the AC and it's not really terribly warm out. The sensor that is supposed to check if the coils get too cold is not placed properly or something (there is a TSB about it) which causes the coils to freeze and not let any air pass through. I can still hear the fan run, but there won't be any air coming out. I have to turn off the AC for a whgile to let everything thaw, then it works again.
Sp I guess depends if you can hear the fan run or not. I have just never heard of the resistor causing a sporadic failure like that, but I guess it would be possible.

Well, aside from a really, really bad day, the problem was two burnt wires. How they got burnt, I dont know, but when you banged on the glove box, it would go on or off. They fixed it and it seems to be working fine.

Glad you got it fixed, sorry I couldn't help. I know what it's like to have an out of the blue problem that seems to be unfixable...my car is in now for the tail light crap, so we'll see what happens Monday.

Good luck. I know I got taken at the stealership, but its been so hot here. I drove up to pick up the resistor yesterday and by the time I got home, It literally looked as if I just got out of a pool. I really had to choice. It cost me $333.63.

Well, if it is what my indy shop though, and it's not under warranty, I'm looking at twice that for this module and installation. I'll gladly replace your a/c thingy if that's the case I actually really like the new dealership I'm going to, as you may know, I had the S6 LED fogs and they actually asked about them, making sure they woudln't damage any of my stuff before they worked on it, unlike the old dealer who would have said "Well there's your problem, those lights messed up your dipty dew and that's what's causing the problem." I told 'em to have at it, everything I added was disconnected and they could just cut out whatever got in their way. I'll be looking for those blank buttons that go next to the shifter soon...
