so im just in love with my car as of late, wondering if im just out of my mind or what.. she gets me a solid 50+mpg, and with the diesel cost continuing to drop i cant see myself ever getting into something newer again.

    so what does TCL think?

That's a very clean mk1 jetta. I would have never guessed it had half a mil on the clock.

    Color me jealous.

If you ever sold it you would have major regrets. That is a very nice car and great pictures.

    Diesel Jetta?

I can see why you went for the low and slow look since the slow is already a given.

How much of the car is original (no rebuilt/refurbished)?

    ha yeah

and actually its all original, i have all maintenance.. every single receipt and oil change record from 100k forward.. has had several clutches, timing belts, and the lower bearings replaced

the stack of maintenance records is quite small when you think about how many miles she has

No kidding. I regretted selling mine the day after. I even tried to get it back. I kick myself every day for selling that car and I wish I could find another.

It's a beautiful car. Keep her on the road as long as you can.

Not sure where the OP is, but in CA Diesel has been below regular for two-three months, now. It's about 15 cents / gallon less than regular for me.

    Wow.

We're still at $4.05-$4.25 for diesel here. Compared to regular which is $3.04-$3.15 as of today.

Diesel is quite a bit cheaper than that here.

This is just karma for bashing California.

OK so first, what's the arrow pointing up in the middle of the cluster? Hazards? Don't tell me it's a shift indicator...

Secondly, my initial reaction to the cluster was,

diesel is dropping around Seattle as well, it is now pretty much right with unleaded or mid-grade at many stations. all the stations I have seen have diesel at premium $ at very most.

I honestly think that the paperwork alone is worth as much as the car itself if not more.

Impressive both the car and OP for keeping the car for so long 23 years and still going. Is it your only car or you have weekend/another car?

Love it. High five on having a 30 year old daily. Mine only has 1/4 the miles though.

I regretted selling my mk1 diesel, I bought another. Mine has 1/5th the miles, and doesn't look as clean as that.
