Guys & Gals. Please (be kind) enough to share your knowledge, preferences, dislikes, etc.

    Ladies

    Gents

Might be helpful to post height/weight/activities for reference?

Example: I'm 5'10" 225lbs. & typically do cardio/stretch/strengthening for 1.5hrs on a typical day. Currently rock a boxer brief which seem to get destroyed while providing crap support. Replace with?

    /chafing

Is this link hilarity or for reals? Can't really tell!

I stopped wearing underwear when I went to afghanistan. I couldn't take the chaffing from all the sand over there.

when I came back, they never felt comfortable...or necessary for me to wear again.

and that was in 2003 so.... I've gone almost 10 years without wearing underwear.

    I love this thread

I cant handle anything but boxer briefs for working out. The expensive Jockey ones that claim to keep you cooler "down there" to be specific.

    6'1'' 185lbs - run,bike,box,lift,rugby,basketball,etc.

I usually train in spandex, so no underwear for me when I'm in the gym.

Either whatever underwear I'm wearing that day (always boxer briefs/trunks) or no underwear if the shorts have a good liner. And by good, I mean one that doesn't allow you to see the outline of my mushroom cap.

    Boxers

    6' 245

I pick up stuff and put it down.
    Running is for small people

Normally Old Navy boxers , but they split on squat day , but picked up some IZOD boxers since they have more room in the legs and havent split yet

Underarmour/any compression shorts. Once you go spandex, you never go back.

    Boxers or boxer briefs.

Squat and deadlift day are boxer briefs only, after I blew apart a pair of boxers at the bottom of a squat a little while ago.

This. I have Underarmor and Nike compression shorts that I wear under my gym shorts. I blew out a couple different pairs of boxers over the years doing squats before I made the switch. Wayyyyy better than boxers when I run, too.

The only thing I don't like about the UAs is their lack of wicking.
It's all about squats and deads.

    My recent underwear situation...

Apparently these "jockbriefs" are all the rage since 2009. Half jock strap, half underwear.

Not sure I could rock that!

All the rage among who...and for what?

If I wore those to my gym, I'd have dates lined up for a month.

    Hope this helps

Another vote for compression shorts - prevent chaffing and seam splitting. For the most part, they have replaced boxers in my daily use too.

For working and running (or mowing the lawn) I wear compression shorts under normal shorts.

Old Navy ones barely fit my thighs standing up straight so if you are splitting those and looking for options try American Eagle, they are the only ones i can wear and not split or have to pre cut slits into.

I have some compression shorts I picked up at walmart for a decent price compared to those found at sporting good stores. I have a few pair of starter shorts and a few pair of golds gym shorts.

Just so we are all clear...these are compression shorts!

Or you could take it to the next level and get all performance oriented...

Will definitely be trying a few pairs. Hadn't owned any in years!

all performance oriented compression gear does is reduce percieved muscle soreness. Does not help you run farther, lift more, etc...

Comfy though and keeps you cool and dry

I'll wear anything doesn't restrict range of motion while lifting weights. For jogging or hiking I wear 9" inseam boxer briefs.

I like the Under Armour boxerjock, O series 6". The compression shorts are nice but can lead to a serious case of batwing. The boxerjock keeps the boys from sticking to the leg.

Target has a great knockoff in the C9 brand, something about mesh tech pouch short with fly, comes in a plastic clamshell package in a single pair. As good as the UA and usually on sale for $9.99 versus the $20 for UA.

Boxer briefs only for my offroad motorcycle riding because boxers tend to ride up on me and the boxer briefs keep everything in the same spot.

    Boxers for everything else.

Regular working out, I'll wear either, be it for lifting or running.

I find the compression shorts just squash everything together and flat - the boxerjock has a pouch to put your junx into, gives a little separation. At least thats how it is when I wear 'em. Your mileage may vary.
