has anyone out there tried this yet on the oe 18x7.5" wheel. I got them mounted up and the front just barely touches the strut body when bolted on. I'm going to try with a 5mm spacer.
The rear is even worse, I think the rear will still rub the plastic strut cover slightly with the 5mm spacer. Has anyone tried this??
I'm running the car in GS so I can't go bigger than a 5mm spacer.

    Any advice appreciated

    Here's some pics

I'd like to see pics of a 285 on a 7.5" wide wheel if you have them!

    x2 on the pic request.

Part of me thinks the handlings will be a bit vague, the other part of me knows it will.

I'm not expecting sharp response, but I am expecting really high cornering grip

Considering a few D-Stock guys manage to stuff 275/35-15 A6's on ITR 15x6 rims, 285's on a 7.5 doesn't sound too bad... Apparently, it does feel like poo, but has more grip than a 225 A6.

before folks dream about stuffing a 285 street tire on a 7.5" rim, keep in mind the Hoosier A6 is designed to be stuffed on a narrow rim for this sort of application

Ran the first event with the GTI yesterday at Pocono Intl Raceway east course. My codriver and I took 1 &2 in PAX overall in GS. The car had so much grip and actually transitioned much better than I expected.
we actually came in 4th or 5th fastest overall in raw time from GS with over 70 competitors

Gotta love big tires and DSG gearboxes!!

I'll try to get some pics up soon.
