Garden City, NY - Feeler: 1996 Jetta 2.0 - needs a bit of love

I've had this car since 2009, its been on and off the road since. Given me nothing but headache's. Car has rust spots on both rear quarter panels, as well as oxidation on the hood and roof...Transmission went a week after I bought it...radio went into safe mode after I replaced transmission....shortly after, replaced the alternator, the day i got it back, some dickhead cut me off only to speed up to a red light ...I was on a downhill..hit the brakes..no abs, slid into the curb and bent the tie rod (which has been replaced as well, no other major damages were found from the mechanic shop i took it to). Car ran awesome after I replaced the tie rod...Exhaust manifold had a whole in it since I bought it. Replaced with Bosal header pipe assembly from ECS and had a nice tone to it when I had it running. On my birthday (of all days) at 12:30, just 30 min after i turned 21, my shift linkage went ..cars been off the road and in my garage since July 20, 2011.

Car started up until about 3-4 months ago. Contemplating whether or not I should sell my jetta and move on to another project :-(.....I had high hopes and dreams...but it might be time to hop into another project...Most parts needed for repairs I already have, just haven't had the time, money or tools to replace. It's a damn good rolling shell and ready for a swap! anyone interested just message me..I'll supply my phone number as well as pics

I used to live out on LI now I travel back and forth to the city and Brooklyn for work/school, so I really don't have the time or use for the Jetta right now. I'm paying for school out of my own pocket..Literally...and im behind on bills as well..I'm just a young man tryna make it and live the dream. I wanna see this car go to someone who see's its potential and put it in better hands.

replaced transmission (85K miles when i got it) back in 2009, only put 5K miles on it since the swap...
5K miles on the brand new clutch and flywheel
New battery and alternator
Bosal Header
GLX Smoked Tails

Needs:
Front Wheel Bearings
Starter - have
Shift Linkage - have
Power Steering Pump - have
Exhaust from catback - exhausts pipes are no good but will still pass emissions
E-brake cable - have
Could use a paint job unless you want the rat rod look

I might be forgetting a few things it needs but as I said, I have 90% of the parts it needs..just needs a little love. Awesome project car for a swap which I intended

my old headliner donated it to another mk3 that i think is fs on the vortex as well ....have another stock headliner and will custom re-upholster it for a couple more bucks....

ordered raceland coils for the jetta which will be here monday evening

the starter is in! car starts, just needs a new battery..battery is dead from sitting in the garage for too long!!

the more i get this car ready, the more the price fs goes up...ready for a swap if anyone wants to take this off my hands....


looking to get into an Audi 90 Coupe.....if not ill settle with the jetta for now....

figured out the issue with power steering...no pump needed...just a belt which cost next to nothing.....
