I'm considering retrofitting a set of projectors into my car. The problem is I have two different projectors and I don't know what exactly they are. One came out of a 2010 or 2011 A4 and the other came out of a B6 Passat. Does anyone know what exactly they are? Which one would be the higher quality solution? Cheaper?

Could be anything from Valeo, E46(Bosch) projectors, but without pictures it's hard to tell.

I'd start with are they halogen or HID? What bulbs do they use?

    Both are bi-xenon projectors.

    The B8 A4 projector

    The Passat assembly

Obviously the Passat one is a Valeo but is there a part number for just the projector? Not sure what the Passat bulb is but the Audi projector uses a D3S.

    passat use a d1s

d3 (& d4) are mercury free bulbs and require a specific ballast

however, the base is the same

Looks good. The photo days it uses D1S :-) . I assume that you have the ballasts and the circuitry for the shutters. Next I'd look to see how they would fit and how you would mount them.

Others here might have some advice on the quality/performance of the two headlights.

I only have whatever circuitry is in that housing. These both belong to my roommate but he said I could use whatever I wanted for my retrofits. Basically I'm trying to figure out if any of this stuff is worth using. I know I have shrouds laying around here somewhere, they look like E55-Rs. I don't have any ballasts handy but I could always use the ones from the Camaro since I don't really drive it much. I would still need to go out and grab everything else. Trying to do this on a tiny budget if possible.
