The only reason why i brought up to start a club is cause there isnt really a club in phoenix for the R32's or gti's or gli's or anything like that and my buddy is part of a civic si club in phoenix and one sunday everyone in the club drove up to flagstaff to have a car show at a flagstaff dealership and everyone drove back through the mountains on the 89 and i can only imagaine a bunch of vw tearing up the mountains and i thought that would be pretty kick ass to do with a bunch of vw's sickest cars.

There are cruises that go up north. Been on a couple. Take the 89a to Jerome, through cottonwood. I then go to Sedona for oak creek pale ale.

Not to say it's a bad idea--I like the enthusiasm behind forming a club--but, this happens to be an all-too-familiar scenario in our little SW forum. The same thing has been offered up time and time again with even talks of member's dues, merchandising, separate meeting grounds--inevitably what happens is that cliques are formed, or our already small group of VW enthusiasts becomes more divided, or it just doesn't happen. Point is we don't have enough people who are willing to suffice, and our community operates under different circumstances.

Best example: set cruise date and observe outcome.

    Also, grammar, please.
If the statement "originality is dead" were true, vwvortex would be a series of Polaroid photographs and ham radio broadcasts. If the geriatrics thought VW's had limited potential, they'd probably spend their time acquiring parts from other manufactures and building entire cars from scratch. Remediation is the key element in creativity. Why should I care that about something I've seen 23,855,208, 120 times?

ya, we just accept it. I would say if you found an old copy of euro tuner you might see that arizona once had a club ( klub schnell ). I dont know how to make a website and so it fell through pretty fast

I don't think the VW Scene up here in Phoenix really calls for a car club. I think its one of those if its not broke dont fix it scenario. Not putting a label on things and just meeting up casually has worked really well for this group. We usually get together sometime during the week to B.S. and shoot the breeze. IIRC The Eastside guys get together for coffee Saturdays to discuss the GTG on Sundays. The Westside guys GTG every Weds. As a Forum we occasionally will set up runs or caravan out to car shows together.

A vivid imagination is needed, because in reality a bunch of VW's would be broke down on the side of the road.

    This is true.

Honestly, I'd like to see some type of charity function take place. I've heard dealerships are promoting enthusiasts days by pushing free hot dogs and hamburgers. I wouldn't want to go because someone would end up walking to Subway and bringing me back a "salad". The idea of doing a run or a meet or even -dare I say- a car wash to raise money would be more enthralling than standing in a parking lot.
