Thread: problem with one touch window open/close after changing battery

  1. 07-03-2012 02:18 PM #1
    Hi all,

I changed my battery with a replacement from the VW dealer (OEM battery), removed pos and neg leads, swapped out the battery and everything started up fine. I go to open the windows and the "one touch" open/close function is no longer working. How can I fix this? Dealer wants 1/2hr for $59 to do it for me.

    thx for your help!

No kidding. $59 to do something I could have ferrets do, forget monkeys.

I think even the VW manual for the car tells you how to do this.

Key on, press and hold window down buttons fully untill windows reach full down, pull up window up button till window returns to fully up position. DO NOT let go at any point while the window is moving or you will have to do it again. Once you cycle each window once the 1 touch function will return for that window. The cars computer needs to know what the fully up and fully down positions are before it will allow the one touch open and close features to work.
My other other car has 2,000HP per axle.

Okay, tried to roll up/down the windows a few times. Got the drivers side to work, then tried the pass side. After a few tries, the window got stuck in the down position and wouldn't roll up. I tried turning off the car, waiting a few minutes, then starting again, didn't roll up. I ended up disconnecting the battery again and the window then rolled up. Then the drivers side wouldn't do the one touch up/down any more. HELP!!!!

It should be a 1 try deal, 2 at most. If your having issues with this try doing it with rain guards. Boy was that a pita..

dc battery with them all up, connect, do the drivers side then passenger side. start by rollin it down, wait 5 sec, roll back up, do a test of down then up to see if they auto.

Any time you have to disconnect the battery it resets the one touch up down. You have to repeat the proceedure I mentioned all over again when you reconnect the battery again.

Ok! Got it to work! I disconnected the battery again with both windows up, reconnected the battery then opened both windows at the same time and closed them both at the same time. I then tried the drivers side and it worked, then the passenger side, it worked!!

I guess just needed to open/close them both at the same time.

Oh, btw, i have the weathertech rain guards on my rabbit...LOVE them!

    Thanks for your help/suggestions!

Glad you got it taken care of, feel better knowing you saved 60 bucks?
