Thread: Starting problem... out of idea!

  1. 07-04-2012 12:17 PM #1
Hi. My car starts every morning without problems, runs good, idles good. If I stop the engine, and try to start it back the starter wont go around at all, maybe half a turn (like a dead batterie).

If I wait for about half an hour, the car will start like new. I changed the starter for a new one, same problem.

Before I start swapping parts, I would like to know what would be the prime suspect: batterie, crank sensor, ignition key, something else...

    Thank you,

Double check your b+ and ground cables also check the fuses on top of the battery for signs of melting then make sure the alt is charging. the battery may have the reserves to crank engine over after sitting but after starting and other electrical loads are applied if the alt is not charging the engine may not crank over after shutting off then restarting

Hi. Thank you for the answer. The problem will occur if I drive the car for more than 10 minutes. If i do a start-stop-start with a few minute on idle it will start again good. Look like a problem when hot... (?)The alternator is charging I tested it. I'll double check my batterie wire to be sure.

The car is a Mk2 swapped 1.8T GT2871R, with the batterie in the trunk (if it can help)

Thank you again. I'll take any idea for solving this issue.

Ohm the engine block to the chassis
