Last night my wife and I, accompanied by friends, went to a Houston Dynamo soccer game. It was loads of fun and we had a great time. In any case I happened to notice a female officer with a CZ75 in her holster! I know guns and I certainly know the CZ75 when I see one. This was the first time I'd ever seen one in the holster of any U.S. police or security officer. Does anyone know if there are departments that issue these or was she just allowed to carry it instead of another sidearm? I didn't have a chance to stop and ask her but I wish I could have found out the story on that one.

Her sidearm looked exactly like this:

Any clues on if Houston PD, traffic enforcement, or auxiliary security carries these? I can't find any info online.

I've never heard of a cz being issued, (although they are a wonderful firearm IMHO) but I know they are an option for many police forces that just reimburse an officer for their purchase of any approved weapon. I knew a cop that carried a CZ 97 (the big brother to the 75) he has since switched to the department issued Glock 21 now.

I know people use them when allowed to purchase their own firearms. I wouldn't be surprised either if some police departments are using that new P07 (the new duty firearm from CZ).

Pretty cool, you could do a lot worse.

I am thinking it was probably one of those "you buy it and we reimburse you" sidearms. I just thought it was unusual to see a CZ in a U.S. officer's holster.

Here's a link to CZ's partner for "individual officer" sales: https://shop.ombguns.com/default.aspx?skinid=1

I really doubt any department is ordering these...

Thats a fantastic gun though. Have but several hundred rounds thru one at the range.
I have to laugh when someone calls me an a*****e. I've been called far worse than that.

Oh, no doubt. The CZ75 is up there with the Browning Hipower, as one of the most excellent "last gen" firearms. I don't follow CZ much, but I hope they haven't gone the route of Sig (poor quality and service, chasing profit margins).

It's on HPD's "approved" firearms list. Many police officers have the option to carry the firearm they were issued or one of their own from the list.

I've shot the CZ75 many times and it's a wicked gun and I would consider it for daily carry.

I reckon this person just loved the CZ75 and picked one up, and had the department reimburse them.

I have 3 friends in HPD - all were issued G22 or G23 - and none carry the Glock. 2 XDs and a M&P (all in .40)
