Hey all just picked up 2 bugs for $4000.00 an the one I'm asking about is a 71. I drove it home most the way an stopped for fuel, go to leave the engine won't turn over. Doesn't even click. Any ideas where to start looking in the electrical system?
    Thanks guys! Tyler.

Sounds like the starter is getting heat soaked from traveling. This makes them tricky to start when they're hot. Mine does it occasionally. Push start it lmao. Pics?

Don't just start bying stuff. Get an elect. Tester and check the battery then start testing things to see if your getting current. Make sure the ground it good. Many years agon I bought new battery, new starter, points, condenser. Etc etc. Only to find out I neede a new $10 ground strap. $325 bucks later and I was pissed...

Sure, but I'm sure the thing needs a new battery anyways, it would make diagnosing what was wrong a lot easier. I didn't say go buy everything without testing things. Starting with the easiest thing (which could be the problem) would be an easy first step.

Test your battery, then the generator, tune up, and if it's still bad it may be your voltage regulator. The same thing happened to me, and it was my voltage regulator. Does your generator light stay on after you turn off your car?
