I didn't even realize it was an option on the California
That's a shame, but not too surprising considering the type of driver that particular model is aimed towards

You can do the math yourself since only 2 out of 8,000 were ordered with a stick shiftThus Ferrari is deep sixing it and leaving you no way to buy a manually equipped Ferrari anymore.

I had no idea it was offered. I thought the Ferrari manual died with the F430.
Looks a bit odd with the manual, but at least its gated.

California is?
Previously: 4 Honda Fits, 7 Ford Mustangs, '08 Honda Element, '03 Nissan 350Z, '97 Honda Accord, '99 Volvo V70, '69 VW Transporter, '09 Triumph Street Triple R, '02 Ranger, '99 Ranger, and a bunch of watercooled VWs

I wonder if people bitched and moaned this much when you could not longer buy cars with hand cranks.

Have you ever driven a manual Ferrari?
I drove a 308 a while back it was like driving a steam train

The gated shifter in a Ferrari is notoriously finicky to set up properly: it requires an artist. I have driven a 550 with a well-sorted shifter; the gate just disappears. Also the engine does not like the rev limiter and wants it gone. It feels as if the engine just wants to keep right on going.
Oblig:

Who are these people ordering paddle-shifted supercars when you can get a real gated manual?
Something is wrong with the world.

I had no idea it was offered either. Its a shame both Ferrari and Lambo are killing the manual.
I didn't know that the 599GTB was offered with a manual either until last year. A manual 599GTB in red is on my list when I win the lotto...![]()

I genuinely did not know you could order a California with a stick shift to begin with.

Hard to drive a manual and hold a cellphone at the same time.

It's actually a lot easier to drive a stick and talk on the phone than it is to drive a paddle-shifted transmission (that isn't in automatic mode) because you need both hands to put the car in neutral and you need your left hand to downshift. With a stick you only need your right hand free.

Why would you want it in a manual?
#26
I wish I were rich enough to go buy an Enzo, and then send it back to Ferrari and tell them to put a gated 6-speed in it
They could do my 458 as well while they're at it...

I don't think the California is aimed at the "driving" type. More of the "check out my new ferrari u jelly bro?" type.
No surprise here.![]()

I am a pretty die hard manuel guy (insert manuel transmission guy jpeg) but if I was ordering a new Ferrari it would not be a manual, for a bunch of reasons.

We had a California at work once.
I went out to look at it, pointed out all the bad panel gaps, sleezy taillight tint, the fact that it was an automatic and only had a V8...installed in the front no less.
Needless to say that guy never came back.
I think the California is a Ferrari for people who can't really afford a Ferrari.
