I was able to remove the dash cubby from my mkV when I traded it in and was hoping to put it in my new mkVI. But after researching it, it sounds like the colors aren't quite the same between the two cars (anthracite on the mkV, titan black on the mkVI). However, as far as I can tell, the dash cubby looks very similar in color to the lower dash in the mkVI. I'm just hoping to get a second opinion. These are the part numbers on the pieces themselves: 1k1858367 for the surround & 1k1857923 for the cubby itself.
Here's the side by side with the cubby and the lower dash. I did it on the passenger side because the light was better. The lower dash and upper dash appear to be different colors, and the lower dash looks almost exactly like the cubby from what I can tell. The angles of the pieces are not quite the same so the light reflecting makes one look slightly lighter than the other.
And a close up
What do you guys think?

The two colors are different. As you can see in your pic they are really close, but anthracite is a dark charcoal grey and titan black is, well, black.
Just a shade or 2 off but it will probably be more noticeable in the car. Also, isn't the trim work different on the MKVI, so would the top of that cubby even fit in one?

F it. Wrap if in plaid and call it a day.

I just called ECS to see if they knew if it would in fact fit in my mkVI and the guy said that although they have never tried to swap it into an mkVI, he doesn't think it will fit. I then asked if they had any mkVI ones in stock, which they do, but they all have that "airbag" mark on the bottom. I have read that the one from the EOS is the one to get because it's the right color and doesn't have the "airbag" label on the bottom, but he said that the one for the EOS is the same as the mkV one. So I'm really confused as to what will actually work.

If the Eos one is like a mkv, and the Eos fits the mkvi. Then I'm pretty sure that the mkv cubby should work

So here's what I'm understanding so far:
The specific one for the mkVI is titan black but it says "airbag" on the lower part of the panel which most people seem to dislike.
The mkV one will fit, but will not quite be the right color.
I see on OEMplus.com that they have listed under the EOS section the cubby in titan black, which should match the mkVI interior. But I'm thinking that it will still have the "airbag" mark. ECS tuning also has the cubbies for the EOS, but the closest color they list is the anthracite.
Also, as one poster above pointed out, you transfer the trim piece from the top of the panel to the cubby, and while I don't have them both in front of me, the trim piece on the mkVI does look a little wider than what I remember on my mkV. Though I may be wrong.

Just to update, I got my new dash cubby from OEMPLUS yesterday and got it installed last night. According to them, it's the Titan black color and is supposedly the one for the mkVI. It does not have the "airbag" mark on it. To be honest, I really that in the mkVI, the top dash and lower dash are two different colors from the factory. The top dash looks like a true black while the lower parts have more of an anthracite color. Because of this, I think the dash cubby I got, whether it is the anthracite one for an mkV or really is the titan black for an mkVI, matches as well as I could hope.
Hope this helps anyone else looking to install the cubby!
