Why can't I go to page 13 of this thread?

If I change the view to linear/new first I can see new posts, but can not get to page 13 or 14. Any help from the board admins is appreciated.

I've recently noticed the same thing. Threads are listed as having more pages than are actually there. Using the link for the extra pages just re-directs to the actual last page.

Yes, now I can get to page 13, but not page 14. Perhaps the comment above is true, there really i snot a page 14? Strange. Thanks for the help.

Here's a thread that shows an extra two pages. It currently shows 117 pages but I cannot access pages 117 or 116. If I select the link for either page I am directed to page 115 which appears to be the most current page in the thread.

This happens sometimes with longer threads. It has to do with the pagination rules for threads and how it handles posts being deleted.

We have the forums set to display 30 (I think.... maybe it's 35, but whatever) posts per page. So if you've got a thread with 120 posts in it, it will be four pages long. If I post in it again, that 121st post goes on to the 5th page.

Then if a moderator goes back and deletes a post somewhere in the thread, (or a user deletes one of their posts, say) things get interesting. The post isn't actually destroyed, the forum software just doesn't show it to you guys any more, but it is still in the thread as far as page counting goes. So now we have a thread that is still 121 posts long, but the software doesn't display one of them for you guys, so you only see 4 pages of posts instead of 5. Moderators and admins can still see the deleted post, so we can see the "missing" 5th page of the thread.

It can get confusing, especially in really long threads that have had a lot of posts deleted. That's when you get to where it looks like there are three or four extra pages at the end of a thread that you can't see. You're not missing any content, it's just the forums not showing you the deleted posts.
