      And I am still perplexed and skeptical of the mileage claims.
      The Leaf has 24 kWh battery and can go maybe 85 miles on a charge.
      How can this MUCH heavier and sportier Tesla go twice that on a battery that is just 40 kWh?
      It will be interesting to see real world range figures.

      Difference in battery chemistry?

      The same way one of the new lithium type batteries lasts much longer than the traditional gold and black duracell. Both cars say li-ion batteries but Tesla lists specs as many more individual battery cells, and that accounts for the additional size of the Tesla battery. Chop it in half and it still has more battery cells than the Leaf.

      Especially when it's been made clear countless times that Tesla is only currently offering first drives and that longer-term road test reviews will come later. It's SOP for every manufacturer releasing a new car and only Jalopnik seems to not "understand" the concept.

      Was just looking at the specs, and I didn't know the Model S was slightly bigger than a 5 series. I have to admit I doubt the range claims now that I've seen the numbers. We'll find out eventually I guess.

      Last time Matt was saying SOP is for manufacturers to hand the keys over for an afternoon. Matt was saying Tesla was giving a lot less time than they're used to and they had to have a PR person ride along or something like that.

      As far as I'm concerned the mods might as well lock up the thread because folks like you seem to insist on posting unprovoked complaints about Jalopnik rather than the content of the article posted. This isn't the "Journalism Critique Lounge."

      I think I do a good job of recognizing that some people don't like Jalopnik, and I put it in the subject almost every time so that folks who have a problem with it can skip the thread if they choose. That's apparently not enough for some people and they just get off on complaining.

      Well.. it might be better form to post a link to the original article (Dan's WSJ link) than to a site trying to use the other journalist's article for their own purpose (to which I have no idea what it would be other than to increase click traffic).

      Okay, but Jalopnik isn't "journalism", it's a blog that puts higher priority on being funny or sarcastic than actual source-checking and dispassionate reporting on facts.

      Did you read Matt's article? It wasn't just a copy of Dan's review, it was more about *why* Jalopnik is critical of Tesla and it's a good read, IMO, a better read than Dan's review, to be honest.
