I have been looking for a good/cheap lens to use for landscape photo's. After doing some research I found the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 DX lens. The reviews said that it was a very sharp and high quality lens for the money. I found a local seller getting rid of one for a good price so I snatched it up. I have been playing with it this weekend and am impressed. As you can see from the photo's below this is a very sharp lens, only getting soft towards the corners. The perspective you can get using up close can yield some pretty cool results. I haven't had much of a chance to shoot landscape stuff too much, but hope to soon.

How much did you have to pay for it, if you don't mind me asking.

tokina makes good stuff, i have the 10-17 fisheye and my buddy has the 12-24. Nice construction, finish, and very sharp lens.

Do you notice chromatic abberation? my lens has that problem as does my friend's but not as bad.

Not yet. I was expecting to see a bit around the Tokina lettering in that lens cap shot but there wasn't any.

$550 is a good price. I saw one on the FM classifieds for the same, and was really tempted, but it's not in the budget right now. As expected, it sold really fast.

you don't want to do portraits with this lens. It makes peoples faces distorted and generally unattractive.

As for the 24-70, I love it. It has a decent range for walking around and is really sharp. The only negative really is the weight of it. I wouldn't want it around my neck all day.
