Dont get me wrong, he can drift a car, put on a spectacle pretty well and is a good 'personality' but he does little for advancing an American driver onto the world stage of WRC. I guess Im just tired of the exhibitions of skill without any teeth. I wish he would stop this crap and actually work on whatever he is lacking to win rally stages. An American on a WRC podium would be fantastic.

I can't remember if I have posted this here before, but..
This guy may not be up to our standards as a WRC driver, but he's introducing performance driving and hooning to a whole new generation. Seems each generation is less and less interested in driving.
Have you ever seen the number of young boys wearing Block gear at car events?
I'm sure my dad rolled his eyes at the Dukes of Hazard when I was fascinated with that show in the 70s, but how many of us to this day spin tires in a minivan on a dirt road and think, "yeeeee-haw!!! to ourselves or drift shopping carts around the grocery store?
I would still rather see him be a better competitor, and maybe do these Gymkhanas in a take or two instead of 500 takes over 5 days. I would also rather be doing what he's doing than sitting here at this desk commenting on TCL.

So I guess they did not do my idea of doing the whole thing on 2 aircraft carriers. My idea was better.

I thought that was a huge improvement over the last video, less show more race format etc. That downhill slide / drift at 4:17 ! Impressive. I will never understand some of the negative the comments in these threads. I think this is a great thing for anyone who is into cars.

Are you serious? He's one of only a handful of American drivers to *ever* score points in WRC and he's done it several times.
Podium finishes would be nice, but when you've sucked so bad as a nation for as long as we have, you'd think a real fan would understand that suggesting Ken has "done little to advancing an American driver onto the world stage of WRC" is not only unfair, from a real US fan perspective it's also untrue.

Ive never said that he doesnt have driving skill because he does. Far more than I do and far more money and time to practice. My disappointment comes from his complete lack of anything resembling success on the global, WRC stage. I would love to see an American win races, not just tire smoke around barrels and street cars. Thats all. Maybe Im alone in this. I would love to see a successful American F1 driver again. I would love even more to see a successful American WRC driver. Try and break the America = Nascar (not that there is anything wrong with that because that takes skill as well) stereotype. I know that he has scored points but what is the ratio of scoring points versus actually finishing races? I would love to see videos of him blasting through the woods or practicing on mud, gravel, tarmac and hard pack roads to get ready for the next season over these well rehearsed, multiple take videos.

I was in San Fran a few weeks ago. I saw the rubber on Twin Peaks blvd and figured it was the local drift kiddos. I guess it was Ken Block

Well said, Alex
Gotta start somewhere and as Alex pointed out he's already done more in WRC than almost any other American driver. Why not see the positive there vs. trying to knock him down?
Finally. Someone truly gets what all this is about![]()

fun to watch, seems like a cool dude regardless of your thoughts on fashion and race results.

Don't forget advertising and generating interest in Rally driving in the US.
Oh really?? He has scored points in 4 of his last 5 WRC events.![]()
He's doing this stuff for fun; he's a humble guy who has great respect for the sport and has never made any outlandish claims. He's 44 years old and has lots of talent - it's too bad he didn't start 25 years ago.

Pretty cool vid, fer sure, but what I'd like to know is what it cost the city of San Francisco to shut down miles of public roads and bridges, pay the local police force to keep gawkers from getting run over, and how many accidents he caused when distracted drivers rear-ended each other during his barge drift.
But the sideways uphill jump?
Win.

Awesome. Thought it was better than the last couple. Less pointless antics and more silly car maneuvers and sliding. First one was still the best IMO.

How do you even start to pull permits for this lol.
