Buddy of mine just sent me this picture. Happened at King just west of Spadina in Toronto.

What we know so far... the bike is standing straight as an arrow, and the driver of the car? Well, she is not getting out of her car. Don't know if she's afraid of the 'mob' watching her, but she's waiting for the cops. Cyclist not hurt.

Bike wheels are made to sustain a LOT of force, especially in that direction. Shame it wasn't a Dodge into a Cayman

Poor bike, but wow those wheels can withstand some force.

Also to bad the Caliber did not end up like the Aztek in the other post.

That's a great chocolate shop on the right. One of the few places in town that actually start with 'the bean'.

Poor Caliber. Can't even rear end a cyclist right.
    Yarp or narp?

The cyclists did not Dodge the vehicle...

I guess bike wheels are actually incredibly strong if the weight applied in the exact direction they're designed to take the strees. I'm still surprised a car that weighs a few thousand pounds was able to ride up and over it before crushing it.

Also I love that they're making the classic mistake of every fender-bender... nobody move over to the side of the road! CSI scene! Wait for the police to come and draw chalk outlines around everything!!!

Folks, unless someone is badly injured or the cars are immoveable due to the mechanical damage, move them over to the side of the road and quit blocking traffic. I don't know how many times I see a cop arrive on scene and before he takes down any information or does any report whatseover he says, "Move these goddamn cars over to the side of the road and stop blocking traffic!"

Looks like the majority of the cars weight is still being held by the rear tire, and some at the front tho. The wheel is still holding quite a bit of weight tho! Wheels really are extremely strong. I used to mountain bike a lot, and my good friend went out to BC to do it professionally (downhill mostly... I think he ended up making mountain biking videos or something)... he used to give wheels a beating - and even if you warp them you can usually pull them straight with spoke adjustment and a hammer. I've never seen one collapse. They can take a 200lbs cyclist doing 40-60kph pounding down a trail (I've landed 5-10ft jumps)... that's a lot of force.

I provided insight into the topic of the thread, precious. If it ruffles your feathers that much then you should think about not letting it ruffle your feathers that much.

Not my bike wheel when a Highlander driven by a old man who had no clue I was there, hit the side of my bike's rear wheel and bent it like a pretzel.

The side? That's the direction they aren't as strong.

It's also lucky it wasn't carbon, or the rider would have wheel shrapnel in his back
I like things with two wheels and things with four wheels.

There are nutty cyclists everywhere in that area, and plenty more inattentive drivers. I'm really not surprised. I refuse to drive in that area except for like, 5am on a Monday.
