Just picked up my GLI and have started right away to make it happy again. I'm currently tracking down the culprits to a rough idle and hard start, and couldn't help but notice that there's some tears/gashes in my fuel distributor lines. I'm figuring I may as well replace these while I do the injector seals and maybe the CSV (hard start when cold). Vacuum testing to follow...

Is it just regular old fuel hose like this http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-...ines/ES466811/ ? Or do I need to replace the hard and soft lines as one piece? If so, where can I find/buy them? (other than vw or a junkyard)

    PICS FOR CLICKS!

These are the lines I am referring to:

that rubber is just a coating.. the older vws didnt have it and the lines rusted due to age... you shouldnt have any problems with the way those lines look.. one thing you might check into is the rubber o-ring around the injectors, they sometime cause rough idle. one other thing that came up in technical bullitens is a filter in the main line banjo bolt going to the fuel distributor. it gets clogged and starves fuel.
