Thread: Will all 5x112 wheels fit my b5?

I am looking to buy some used rims and tires for my 2003 passat wagon. Will all 5x123 rims fit my car? What about wheel size? Do I need to lower or raise my car? What tires do you recommend? 40?

You need 5x112 pcd to fit your car. you can run others, but adapters will be needed ad if you go with adapters, buy the best quality ones in your budget.

Passats' tend to have a more aggressive offset, so the lower et+ (offset) is a more aggressive offset. I have my 04 sedan on OEM sport Eibach springs with the OEM 17" wheels and conti tires on. the car is lowered about 1.5 inches. Tires depend on what wheel you get and what you would like your tire/wheel setup to look like. The size of the wheel doesn't necessarily matter, the offset does.

Offset is how tucked in, or how far out our wheels stick from the car or fender well. The higher the offset, the more tucked in the wheels are in the fender. The lower the offset, the more the wheels stick out. If you lower or raise your car, the dimensions change, the limits change, so watch out.

I would recommend asking around. See what other people are running. I plan on keeping the car lowered and running 18" wheels. I may even lower it more on coilovers or some other static setup. I also plan on my wheels to have an et of 35mm or less.

I love cars, it's not just a car to me. Its a passion, something that people far and few between can understand and relate with me.

You can narrow your results of what can or cant fit as far as fitment with this http://www.klutchrepublik.com/kalculator Set the fender distance to 82 and youre good to go.

If youre getting OEM or 'OEM+' and not aftermarket wheels, you must make sure the diameter of the lugs needed are the correct size or at worst too small. If the holes are too small (for example, older merc wheels have 12mm lug holes), then you can take them somewhere and have them redrilled to the proper 14mm. However, if the lug holes are too big, DO NOT put them on the car.

Also, hub diameter is another thing to look out for with otherwheels but this is easily adjusted with hub centric rings so long as the new wheel has a bigger hub diameter than 57.1 mm
