    Hillfolk'r

You need to post this stuff on the GTD site. Many need inspiration over there too.
    I like 1.6l and 1.9l Diesels

i gotta contact those dudes and see if i can keep my old screenname.
i got some nice steel for the rear hub spacers.dads been workin on em during the day
i got the brakes redone on the backing plates.
probably tomorrow nite ill give the beam a final coat of paint and or do some more rear brake lines so i can get the tank back in soon.i can only go up to the shop every other night during the week or else mrs.hillfolk gets very upset with me

ooh ooh. got some painting done, and dad got a hub spacer done,he was sweatin it a little but i knew he had it handled..
    action pic
believe it or not,we got that bridgeport for free,we just had to transport it

the local bolt place gave me the wrong bolts,10mm too short.good for mockup and checking the work but no gofor final assembly....

and i should get another can o' paint or 2 for a little more durability...

then,i was thinkin, how do i plug the ugly holes?maybe some red capplugs to match?
nah...id like a couple of mk2 vw trunk emblems...like my old 2 piece tube bumper on my caddy where i capped the ends with mk1 vw emblems.....same but different...i knew mk4s were good for somethin...from the hubcaps...a little big tho...

i got probably 6-8-10 hours of stuff till i can ride round the airport...
put on the v belts, run the brake lines to the front, hook up the fuel lines, bleed the brakes, put the interior in...bunch of little stuff like that...hopin within a week or 2 at the most
then the fun part of the dmv crap to get it on the road.

yea i ran into some real crap the other nite..i noticed the power steer lines from the pinion to the rack were always "wet"
well i wiped them with a rag and the lower one is a leaker
guess what? they are NOT avalable unless you buy a new rack.i figured i was screwed so i cut the leaking line off to remove the fittings to see the flare style..it resembles a double flare, but flat on the end.and theres a teflon gasket in the rack...
of course the top pinion line is in the way of putting a 6 point socket on the lower fiting.if i bent it id have a leak on that crusty bastard....then i had a idear...climb under the mk3 parts car and see whats up...guess what? same lines, and they were in fair condition....
i got out the blue tip wrench and heated those suckers on the mk3
one line wanted to stick in the fitting and twist...so more heating and cursing that stupid halogen lamp that kept burning my arm,and all the soot from my 6 inch long downpipe..after an hour of that i got my mk3 lines...
i was tired so i called it quits for the eve...ill put em in tomorrow, and finish bleeding the brakes...maybe put it on the ground tomorrow evening and if im lucky finish the belts and test drive,if not on saturday for sure

u been warned...these arent avalable unless you buy a rack...unless someone says otherwise.......

heres a pic of the" flare" on the end..at first i was hoping i could hillfolk em with a double flare and crank the wee out of em...probably not a good idear

heres the lines i stole from the mk3

i be rollin all over.i got my vw penis back finally.i got the recaros in and the carpet back in.
i do have a bad bearing in the alternator which im gonna try to fix today,i got an extra i can try or use parts from.
i still gotta wire up the power to the seats, put the rear seat in,put the rear door panels in,and the passenger side door panel too...
and before it rains i really gotta do the raingutter weatherstrips that i got from vintage rubber
the trunk seal i got from them was nice quality stuff,so i expect the raingutter to be the same

Old VW diesels AND airplanes in one thread??!! Love it!

Here are a couple of VW's in front of a hangar at my dad's place! Behind that door is a 1947 Stinson Voyager, still powered by its sketchy old Franklin engine.

Thanks guys...yo im diggin that pic....franklin engines r sweet!! So smooth runnin
    i love stinsons..see the red one? Its a 108 with like 400 hrs on it..for sale 5k
my dad has a 46 luscombe, and is in the middle of an rv-4 build with like a 220hp engine.
    that should be fun
    skyacresairport.com
yea now we have the new hangar, its time over the winter to get back on the 79 rabbit i got with the tdi-m
    goal?
    mid 13sec 1/4s,and 50 mpg...
not hard when ive already ran lo 14s with it and just need some traction.2.4sec 60ft times are unacceptable, but fun.
im probably gonna leave sootys engine alone.slow and low.i got a td setup for it i could put on but thats if i got the time.heh i was throbbin on sooty last night, redlining every gear driving some backroads and burnin corners like a madman...
im impressed how wel it handles,it feels 7/8 like a mk1 gti to me!
no more back end comin out, just traction!
im stripping my 98 tdi jetta for parts and an electronic engine swap into a buddies rabbit down the road.any ideas on things to keep?
    Engine trans wiring,dash cluster,trans tunnel,various brackets.

Hey id like to put the mk3 trunk popper in sooty, has anyone done this?
maybe add a gas strut so it opens automatically?
as long as i can do it without defacing sooty.
i cant drill or cut one hole in sooty, its sacrilege to me.
maybe next i would like that jom hood strut kit,but i see i gotta drill holes.
maybe i can make some bolt on brackets for them?
