Thought it would be interesting to see some of the uglier and lesser known OEM wheels out there. (Aftermarket brands don't count).

I remember seeing these in the BMW accessory catalog around 10-15 years ago. These were for the E36, but there was a similar style for the E39 as well.

In comparison, these are way better and completely change the look of the car ...

That said, with the cap off they're not bad or the alternate cap on they go from looking like they belong on a 89 Q45 to simply being another bland Lexus wheel.

90's Accord wheel, usually found on models trimmed in mint green driven by older folks when new.
They looked exactly like hubcaps except they were aluminum wheels.
When so much can be done with aluminum, why not make an effort?

Still ugly as from the factory. ( and I had a set too)

Without the caps they looked great and I couldn't measure any loss in braking performance.

I have the same problem with these. They aren't so bad in pictures, but in person they look like stamped steel wheels you'd get on a Forester.

The Optima Hybrid. It's unfortunate such a dashing car is saddled with such ugly wheels.

Late 90s CLKs equipped with these taxi-grade wheels. They look like what is found under a wheel cover.

I find most three and four-spoke designs to be unattractive and/or cheap looking.

I must be showing my age, but I find many of these very cool, especially in the days when they were new.

As for the guy who thinks the XJ220 wheels are ugly, well you must be blind or just not really like cars. Those are in my top 10 OEM wheels ever made.

how do you people even judge what's an attractive wheel design? Generally I get why one car design is appreciated more than another, but this thing about wheels has got to be the most arbitrary preference ever.

I like most of the wheels posted A lot of these wheels do not look good on the car they came on, but do look good on (select) other cars.

I generally dislike black wheels with chrome/silver lips...

They're also the lightest 16'' wheel MBZ made by some margin at 13lbs. I don't think they're the prettiest but I want a set to auto-x with.

Though I don't understand people's fascination with these wheels, another abomination from the Stuttgart Sled Company:

2013 Subaru Outback wheel is gross, look at how the design cuts into the lug pattern. Designer of this wheel should be fired.
