I think these devices are pretty damn cool, but can you imagine almost everyone on the road with them surfing the web or posting on FB/Twitter while they drive? Oh wait, we already do that with smartphones.

Would having a webpage/app superimposed in your front field of vision like a HUD be more distracting than looking down on a screen on your palm while driving? Can you imagine watching movies while commuting?

Good idea. Let's not have any technological breakthrus that people could potentially hurt themselves with.

I can see this being very useful in a car actually. There are already OBD-II bluetooth sending units and apps that allow you to read and clear ECU codes from your phone. I imagine it wouldn't be a huge stretch to develop a sort of HUD showing the necessary information like oil/coolant temp, turbo pressure, rpm, vehicle speed, pretty much any sensor you would want similar to the ScanGauge devices. As long as it would be possible to locate the information so it would be out of the way from your primary line of sight I would think this would be a hit amongst the geeky car enthusiasts.

Would be even cooler if you could get these in clear polarized lenses or some sort of transition type for those none glass wearing motorists. Would be even better if you could incorporate an eye prescription in them.

It isn't a potential hurt, its going to happen. Texting and driving is deadly enough. Distracted driving causes more incedents than I care to hear about, and it is a huge pet peeve of mine. I used to yell at my wife for that, mostly because she sucked at driving in the first place. Sounds like a better idea to use it when you aren't driving for all of those extra info readouts you want in your own car. I have a family to worry about and this just makes it worse; to think some retard out there is going to be driving around not paying attention to the road because some stupid Google ad pops up on his goggles while he's driving and then some family out there gets wiped out. "A" for effort, bit not automotive friendly when used in combo with operating.
