I've had my air system for about a year and a half now and have had no issues at all as everything has been reliable and working great. As of recently though I've noticed my tank fill time seems to be taking longer than usual and today my compressor seems to have stopped filling my tank completely.

The noise has been fairly loud and the tank was filling slowly and then the compressor noise "dimmed" a bit and my air pressure has stopped at 140 psi but the compressor was still running. The compressor was also running extremely hot.

Could this be my check valve? or something more serious? I was looking at the ob2 compressors as I've heard really good things about them but if I don't have to buy a new compressor then I wont.

    Any ideas?

I would take your check valve off and check to see if it is stuck shut or not. Then i would turn your compressor on without it attached and see if air flows out or not very much. If not a lot of air is flowing through the compressor then shut it off right away and pull apart the head of the compressor to check the piston rings

yeah it could be the check valve or the internal piston/cylinder of the compressor.
